Yes Chisora could have been the champion or a champion in previous eras.

Jersey Joe Walcott ( just check his age and win-loss record )

Rocky Marciano ( probably the weakest heavyweight division of all time )

Floyd Patterson by today's standards he would be known as Glassman

Joe Louis---won his title from a one-armed has been and was knocked down by him in the process, as well as being knocked down by Tony Galento and I'm guessing Max Schmelling knocked him down in their first fight. I think he would be Glassman against today's heavyweights who dwarf the 6'0" 188lb "heavyweights" and would probably punch harder than their small frye Bum of the Month Club predecessors.

I would say that Rocky Marciano is the most overrated heavyweight ever but most people don't really bring up his name that often in terms of "greatness" so he really isn't overrated IMO since he seldom rates at all. That makes Joe Louis the most overrated heavyweight. He's considered the greatest by many yet he fought a collection of bums. He had two handed skills against guys who didn't have two-handed skills.

The 80s---if Don King was his promoter, pretty damn good chance he would have some kind of belt.

People thought the exact same thing about Morrison, Schultz, and Stewart. They were brought in to be KO victims and were still good enough to survive and outbox George. And, to answer your question, Helenius.

You were also telling me how tough of a time Vitali, a better fighter than old George, had in the Chisora fight. Make up your mind.

    Absolutely.

Old George was getting outboxed by guys that were brought in specifically to be knocked out. Say what you want about Chisora and Adamek, but I'll take beating them (and the other defenses) widely over needing robberies, every benefit of the doubt, or flat out losing against Morrison, Schultz, and Stewart.

Foreman can't be entirely ruled out because he does have that epic one-shot power, but this is a case where the record around the time tells the whole story. The area around his title stretch was filled with him getting outboxed by mediocre to just average (at the world level) boxers he couldn't catch, combined with one hail mary shot that knocked out the best of the lot.

Sums it up, really. Can't rule out George, but it would be an upset if he won given what we saw him do against the other contenders at the time.

No he would not have, when he is fit and willing he could give many heavyweights a good challenge though.

    fair enough fella

just chisora has his share of losses on paper...and although he should have got the nod over helinius, how good can we say he is?....I looked at chisora last time out beat an unbeaten opponent over 3 rounds and thats great, but he got tagged a few times in that fight....I'm struggling to be convinced that del boy has as much about him as the names you mentioned that beat foreman....not sure I'd pick del boy to beat morrison or schultz.

Chisora is a average fighter at best. Not sure why he gets so much credit. Maybe it is because Wlad ducked him twice? A young overweight Fury has already beat him plus Undersized Haye has already knocked him out. Chisora is fighting in a very weak era. Chisora does come to fight but he is feather fisted and his chin is not all that great.

vitali did have a tough time, but that doesn't equate to chisora beating Foreman. Chisora is one dimensional, Foreman made a career out of knocking out fighters just like chisora
