He loses twice, both to the same man who is naturally bigger, a big puncher and also a solid fighter. No shame in that. And yet I'm already seeing people hating on Gonzalez and calling him overrated. It just shows how quick people turn their backs on a fighter who end up losing when that's part of the game. I don't know how Gonzalez will look if he fights again or if he'll ever be the same again. But show some respect to a great fighter like Gonzalez. He's already achieved enough to be considered an ATG and was dominant in the lower weights. And unlike Ricardo Lopez he actually took risks and moved up in 3 weight classes to fight the best possible guys.
Umm where was the disrespect towards Lopez? All I said was that Gonzales was able to take more chances by jumping up weight divisions and fight bigger opponents. As great as Lopez is and as a huge fan of his I will admit that.
But by the same token you are saying those who feel Gonzalez was overrated are hating on him. By the way. that was a different era. For whatever reason they didn't jump divisions the way they do now. The fact that someone like Broner is a "4 div champ" tells you all you need to know.
I don't hate Roman but I still think that he's overrated. I've been thinking this since Roman was undefeated. You see what I mean?
he was so entertaining to watch, i remember a fight on GGG's undercard where he just took this guy into deep water and at like round 8 or so choco got hit with a vicious body shot that clearly hurt him and his opponent emptied the tank trying to get him out of their, choco gritted his teeth and made it out of the round to then knock his man out in the next the guy was GREAT TO WATCH
The same people that hate on Gonzalez are essentially the same people who call him overrated. And please don't ever compare Gonzalez to Broner. Just don't.
The man deserves a truck load of respect. Great career but when go up through the divisions you guna find a division where you just can't seem to make much of an impact no matter how much skill you are carrying. Cruiser weight for uysk, middle for canelo. Lomo 140 maybe? It happens. But I don't think I've ever overrated Gonzalez
Gonzalez is a future hall of fame fighter, possibly ATG. Broner isn't even close to being hall of fame worthy. Don't even think about comparing the 2.
Champ in 4 weight classes, 16 fight win streak in world title fights before Rung, been fighting world title fights since 2008. People don't recognize that because of how long it took HBO to hop on the bandwagon. To put it in perspective, he won his first world title at 21. He didn't lose a title fight until he was almost 30 (and even the 1st Rung loss was controversial). What fighter won a world title that young and went on a longer unbeaten streak? Floyd's the only one coming to my mind right now, but correct me if I'm wrong. Doesn't exactly sound like an overrated fighter to me. Dude's a HOF lock and one of the best offensive fighters the lightest divisions have ever seen.
If you really think that's what I was doing you're more than likely on a bender trying to forget Choco's loss.
Much like how you were thinking that I was disrespecting Ricardo Lopez? LOL I'm not trying deny Gonzalez's loss. Actually, I'm happy that Rungvisai ended the controversy emphatically.
