Chocolatito is still the best, and HBO's hit job on him can't change that.

That's a pretty lofty stretch to say for the Estrada fight.

Viloria was still ranked in the middle of the top 10 by everybody, even if what you say is largely true. Still Brian Viloria, not sure people appreciate the equivalent of beating a guy like that at MW or LW or WW would be. People would be hyping and going bonkers over it. People just don't know Flyweight.

Haven't watched that Estrada fight in a while, will have to rewatch it sometime. I don't agree regarding Viloria. Beating Viloria isn't the equivalent of beating Danny Jacobs in my opinion.

Viloria had a much better record than Jacobs does. World amateur champion, two weight pro champion, three belts, wins over Solis and Segura when he was rated #9 p4p. Jacob's claim to fame is that he beat Quillin. Even past his prime, as Viloria was, he was still a top 5 boxer at flyweight.

I agree with you that beating Jacobs in 2017 is better than beating Viloria in 2015.

Not seriously. Close fights but I'd struggle to give either 7 rounds.

All that has nothing to do with the fact that comparing what Viloria was at the time he fought Gonzalez, as compared to what Jacobs is now. It's not as good a win.

Did you give Gonzalez seven rounds against Cuadras?

I don't know. I think they are fairly comparable. Both top 5 guys. Jacobs probably gets sparked in 9 too if he really comes at the king like Viloria did instead of nancing around like a Kansas City ******.

I disagree man. Jacobs is not shopworn. Viloria was when he fought Gonzalez.

Jacobs was definitely prime and Viloria was past his, but I'd say that Viloria's prime might have been better than Jacob's and the coming down is what evened them. Of course, I'll admit that I may be wrong. I may be looking at Viloria's career through rose colored glasses.

I don't think it's fair to put responsibility for the decision on HBO. Their comments after the fight sound more like disappointment in the decision. Kellerman said he thought Chocolatito was robbed and Hopkins agreed and said he's still one of the best. But Hopkins said Gonzalez didn't dominate Rungvisai like a p4p number 1 should, and I totally agree. He did also have really close fights of course with Cuadras and Estrada. Gonzalez is still great and definitely still top 10, very well top 5. But not quite the absolute best. Without a long-time dominant p4p king like the Jones or Floyd days you've gotta domiante. Like Loma, Rigo, Crawford, Garcia, Kovalev and Ward against anyone but each other, and for me Inoue.

Circa 2005 Manny Pacquiao has just lost to Erik Morales after struggling with some nobody Marquez who some people think beat him. He ain't looking too good at super featherweight. Not like he did at bantamweight. Maybe, he's gone up too far and anyway he's still got unfinished business with Agipito Sanchez.

Ain't nobody gonna' give Gonzalez the benefit of the doubt? Everybody is jumping off that train, when he didn't even really lose. But now Lomachenko in his second weight class is fighting nobodies and looking all shiny. Fame is some fickle fleeting ****. You know everybody and their mother would have shown up for the big 50-0 party too.
