Huh, never seen that one before. After Roman Gonzalez punished Omar Salado to a bloody ref stoppage he walked his opponent back to the corner, borrowed a towel and wiped the blood off Omar's face.

Great sportsmanship there from Chocolatito, good heart by Salado. Man what a beating. It's time for Gonzalez-Segura.

I saw this too. Chocolatito was a pupil of the late legend Alexis Arguello and I can not only see a resemble in their fight game but also in their sportsmanship and humility.

I dont follow a lot of fights below bantam, but im starting to follow certain fighters now, gonzales is one of them.
He seems pretty good, how do you guys see him vs segura and calderon.

Nice show of sportsmanship from Gonzalez.

I've been following him for a while now - a match-up with Calderon seemed like the logical fight to make but now Segura is the man to beat.

I don't think Segura is sticking around at 108 though for obvious reasons, so we might not get to see this either.

I'd like to see him raising his profile by fighting Viloria, then going up against Joyi.

Roman is a technical boxer and not a brawler despite his high percentage KO record. He has a good uppercut and body shots. Keeps his hands up and counters decently. He kind of leaves his left hand down while trading which is his main problem I think. Skill wise he's better than Segura but a lot of fighters are.
I don't think it matters where Segura-Gonzalez would happen, Segura would give him the beating of a lifetime and stop him. Segura absolutely walks through everything these guys hit him with and hurts them really badly,

That was just pure respect and class.

Gonzalez knew what he'd taken out of Salado (more than just the blood) and was showing his appreciation for Omar's guts.

Gonzalez beats Segura at 108 or 112, IMO. Gonzalez is just a much better technical boxer, and packs about as much pop in his punches if not more. At this point, Gonzalez probably wipes out Calderon. Iron Boy would survive longer than he did the last time against Segura since Gonzalez isn't quite as aggressive, but Gonzalez would eventually get the KO. Prime for prime (assuming Gonzalez has hit his prime yet), I'd probably pick Calderon, but Gonzalez would have been easily the toughest challenger he'd faced at 105.

I would have been interested to see how he'd handle Joyi, who's freakishly long, throws punches in bunches and is very shifty defensively, but it looks like that will never happen.

Since Brickhaus stole my thoughts I'd only add a few things. No one not Segura or Tyson Marquez stands and trades with Gonzalez without getting knocked out, no man fights up close better than Chocolatito in these lower divisions Gamboa included. Segura likes some distance to get the snap behind his punches but I see Gonzalez cutting that off him and his short and faster hooks beating Giovanni's. He also mixes up better, he can double or triple uppercuts, body to head is a joy to watch and yesterday's left hook-left uppercut combo was beatiful too. If Roman had an in-out style I could see Segura getting his distance and chase him down but Chocolatito is a skilled come forward puncher and I don't see the Mexican taking a step back, and it's not a good idea to stay in harm's way.

The Joyi fight is where Gonzalez gets into trouble, that's a hard code to crack, but I'd prefer the Segura fight for the action.

:good This caught my attention as well and I got shivers down my spine. I told a family member Look, thats Alexis Arguello right there! His spirit is with Chocolatito! This kid is going to be a star and hes growing on me.

Seguras a badass lil warrior his power easily matches or surpasses Romans, but I do admit I like Romans skills alot better seems alot more complete and theres some elegance in it reminescent to Arguellos style tho AA still had a more potent right. Would like for Chocolatito to work on his speed tho, but he has the makings of a great fighter.
