Bomber ,The only reason why i asked is that i was getting pissed off with seeing Mundine parade the belt around and wondered if Australia really thought he was the holder of a legit title ...It appears most Don't but a Few actually do ...

I'm not shitty at all, most people hate Mundine in Australia. I never said Eubank was shot, I said he was half a decade past his prime. He was still a formidable fighter but not the same, kinda like saying Lewis destroyed Tyson when everyone knows Mike's best days were 15 years earlier.

ANyway back to Choc yes his title is bogus, but when Joe vacates it's as legit as any other. Only diff is he fought for it before it was vacated.

The fact that the holder isn't the top man for the organisation and that the title was only invented so the WBA could make money from sanctioning fees makes it completely bogus.

The truth is, there is only one 168 pound champ and that is Calzaghe. Mundine holds a nonsense title and Bute has the one Calzaghe tossed away.

It also has the advantage that it allows the Super Champ (who by definition has other belts too) to not have to defend against Regular WBA mandatories, which would allow him to get some more belts...thus, making the WBA more attractive.

All that title is, is basicaly a way for the sanctioning body to get more money for sanctioning his fights as "title fights".

No other division awards a title to second place in the division...

He's championship calibre, as much as it pains me to say so - But realistically he's at best number three behind a guy who already soundly outpointed him once - Kessler, and Calzaghe - A highly experienced southpaw, high output swarmer Mundine's style has just no real answer for.

I disagree. There are elements of self depreciating humour, but that is an English trait. As a generalisation, Aussies are not very good at laughing at themselves, and certainly can not handle any outsider critisising australia

His title is nothing but an excuse for the WBA to charge sanctioning fees for his so called championship bouts. You have to beat a champion to become a champion.

I don't think it's any different than having a WBC, WBO and IBF champ.

The current IBF champ Lucian Bute has fought who? Choc being a "regular" champ basically means that he had to fight for a title which was available due to someone else (Joe.C) being placed wherever.

Yeah it's stupid but no more so than having another few champs in the same weight division.

As for the WBA, it states that the super champ MUST fight the regular champ within 21 months. Mundine already proposed a fight with Calzaghe but the Welshman turned it down (and it was a decent offer) Lets see if Joe stays around to give Choc his shot or retires beforehand.

Maybe Joe will just refuse and let the title slip away.

So in reply to the question "Is it legit?" I'd say YES but only because the WBA have in place the requirement for both champs to meet.

That said I wouldn't be disapointed if it was scrapped. In fact I believe one fighter should hold more than one belt before he is named champion. This would forced governing bodies and rival promoters to work together if they want any credibility for their fighter. Holding one belt would place the fighter in a position to fight another within 12 months or lose that belt.

    Something like that.
