Choi/Asiku, Murray/Blackwell, Alvarez/Rhodes RbR & Discussion Thread!!!

Let's be honest, Rhodes has lost and been stopped by domestic level British fighters. He was never going to be able to come to Mexico and beat a very good young fighter in Alvarez.

It's not entirely fair, I don't think, to say "pathetic performance" and so on, because it's a question of levels, and Ryan's is just short of world class, whereas Alvarez looks like he might occupy such a category for years to come.

 

I was very impressed with Saul tbh. Lovely balance, fair footwork, great switching from head to body, nice punch variety, improved defence, good combos, deceptively fast. Great stuff from him. I think if you're looking to beat him you need to get off first, push him on to the back foot more often (pretty much for most of the fight tbf) but not let him come back straight away as Rhodes did (that's another thing I was impressed with - any time he was caught or pushed back he fired straight back). I'd like to see him tighten up his left hook a little bit and turn it over slightly more (literally a matter of centimeters though so that's just me being extremely picky). So cool for a 20 year old too. Never fazed and always looked chilled. Even when taking rounds off he wasn't really in much trouble. Good finish too, he picked the shots nicely.
