Yeah, I know, you're right, but like seemingly everyone here on the British forum I want Choi to do well - he's a great lad and a very committed, decisive fighter - great for British boxing. With Gamboa, I just hate the hype, you know...he's been called a future p4p No 1 and the next SRR, and he hasn't done anything. People talk about how well he does given his number of fights, but look at his age and experience (amateur). I just aim to bring people with their feet on the ground about Gamboa - just as I do about Dawson, for example, who is a bit like Gamboa. :good
I don't think anyone's called him the next SRR lol!?!? I wouldn't agree with that, but I definitely think he could be P4P no.1 in a couple of years. Doesn't look like he's going about it like Solis, Gamboa's in real good shape, and I bet he's pretty well off already, and he doesn't show any signs of going off the rails.....yet! To be honest though I'd be surprised if Gamboa doesn't pick up a few belts quickly in a few weight divisions and then retire.
I think it would be a good cross roads fight for both fighters, Choi finally getting a big fight and Gamboa getting a proven durable puncher who is very strong physically. Let's not forget that Choi was outboxed by Willie Limond before, okay he's probably gotten a lot better since but despite Limond being a very good domestic and European level fighter he's quite a bit away from Gamboa.
There was a problem with getting Yak milk for Choi before that fight. If they fought again it would be a different story.
See, there's no way you can justify that prediction. No way! Until a fighter faces at least a world class fighter who is a puncher and a world class fighter who is a relentless pressure maching with a great chin, no matter how great a dancer he is, there's no way of knowing precisely how good he is. Gamboa has not fought anyone, and, here's the thing: he will not get much better; he's pretty much the finished product. We don't know whether he can take a punch, we don't know whether he can withstand pressure...and you think he may be the best in a couple of years? Good luck to him, but so far, there's no way that hope can be justified objectively. Sorry.:good
The only thing that worries me about The Flash is his age. He's only got 2-3 years left before it all catches up with him, unfortunately. He might already be at his peak, for allwe know. His performance against Matthews might be a high-mark for him.:| The Choister needs some big fights soon!:deal
