What was the best win of these four, taking into consideration respective quality of opponent on the night and quality of performance in the ring? :bbb

I'll go with Roman w 12 Wantanabe. Wantanabe was still in his prime. Zapata controvesially beat Chang. Chang beat a severly weight drained Zapata. Gonzales beat a past his prime Chang.

Watanabe was certainly not in his prime, and put in a terribly lackadaisical performance to boot. I'm not sure what to pick, as all of these wins are in some way or another black-marked.

    How so?

So you have no idea at all which one you would choose as the best then?

None of them are that great as wins for one reason or another.

Roman got Watanabe at the end of his career, and won a lop-sided decision over a fighter seemingly disinterested with the sport at that point.

Zapata was gifted the decision in the first Chang fight, and Chang faced a terribly out of shape, mentally out of sorts (having spent time in jail just prior to the fight), undertrained Zapata who just quit.

Gonzalez got Chang toward the latter part of his career, at a time when he was becoming less and less consistent with his efforts. Maybe I'll go with that one, though.

The true pick is probably actually Chang over Zapata 1, especially if you believe that Chang carried an injury bfore the fight that hampered his training.

If taken at face value though i'd go for Zapata over Chang. The fight was a competitive all-time Flyweight classic and Zapata was facing an excellent opponent.

Gonzalez beat the worst, rustiest Chang we ever saw and though he did so well and comfortably, it wasn't really a showcase performance, beating or a clinic. It was a dull relatively cautious performance that was slightly closer than the judges had it for me.

Roman was excellent against Watanabe, but as Bujia says Watanabe was past his best and just went through the motions, looking to land just the odd straight left score a knockout. He wasn't any worse than Chang against Gonzalez though and Roman looked clearly the more talented fighter when compared to his fellow mexican imo.

Chang vs zapata 2 is a bit like Leonard Duran 2, except Chang was fighting in his usual style and looked better than Ray imo.He had a really good 2nd and 3rd round, but still Zapata just flat out quit instead of trying to rally back.Plus he had served jailtime in the runup, not beena ble to train fully and had the previously mentioned weight issues. He went right off the rails at this time and ended up becomeing an out of shape Bantam for a brief period.
