there is No Middleweight RJJ.

he's a S-MW cum L-HW,
who in the past would have been a L-HW cum HW, put him in with JHL, Conn, Charles, JJW, Big Joe Baksi, Louis and all that company.

put him in with the Roy Jones Jr. before there even was a RJJ - LLOYD MARSHAL!!!

 

SRR

 

Prime Robinson was at welterweight where he was the best welterweight ever.Middleweight Robinson was still a great fighter who won the title like 5 times but also lost the title 5 times so he definitely wasn’t at his best during his middleweight days. I think jones Jr wins a competitive but clear decision

prime Hagler who was a career long middleweight has the best chance against Jones Jr

 

I wouldn’t bet my life on any fighter beating another. But just about all of those guys would be good fights for jones at 160.

 

i agree re: the weights.

But at MW, Roy v SRR would be a battle of skills.

Hagler and GGG would have better chins and more power, but I think Roy would be the more skilled boxer and in tip top shape and could well outbox them.

The only one of those listed who might match Roy in skill would be sugar ray… hence my pick of SRR.

 

I don't speculate on cross era fantasy fights, so this post has no relevance to SRR vs RJJ.

Apart from the Turpin fights, SRR wasn't in his best Middleweight days when he lost and won the title multiple times.

SRR lost his 3rd contest at MW, aged 21, to Jake LaMotta. He then went unbeaten in his next 67 MW contests, including 4 x wins vs LaMotta, before losing to Turpin aged 30, which he avenged in his next fight. His record in MW fights only was 70-2-2, when he retired. Robinson returned 3-years later and his 3rd loss at MW came when he was way past prime, 4 months shy of his 36th birthday.

 

better than most fighters overall records it needs to be said. when you really think about it, Ray Robinson was a phenomena.
