What are the fights where you have saw the greatest exhibitions of each of these attributes?

    PUNCH POWER...

    SPEED...

    BOXING SKILLS...

    DEFENCE...

    INFIGHTING...

    CHIN...

Choose one fight per category and make clear which boxer exhibited the attribute.

For instance, if there was a category called HEART, I think I would choose Nigel Benn v Gerald McClennan for the way Benn never caved under intense pressure and kept on battling back through the pain. If there was a category called STAMINA, I think I would choose Aaron Pryor v Alexis Arguello I for the way that Pryor was still full of energy and punching after a brutal fight in the definitive 14th round.

So, for the attributes listed above, what are the best examples you ever saw in one fight?

PUNCH POWER...Diego Corrales vs JL Castillo I....Corrales after being floored twice, came back to turn things around with one punch, and ended everything with another.

SPEED...Floyd Joy Mayweather vs Arturo Gatti....The considerbaly slower Gatti had no answer to Joy Boy's speed.

BOXING SKILLS...Juan Manuel Marquez vs Pacquiao I...After getting busted up, KD three times and almost KO in the first, he came back to dominate Pac for the rest of the fight.

DEFENCE...Pernell Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez...For obvious reasons

INFIGHTING...Julio Cesar Chavez vs Edwin Rosario...Chavez totally dominated Rosario who was perhaps a stronger puncher by staying on the inside and busting his face and body.

CHIN...Antonio Margarito vs Miguel Cotto...For obvious reasons

    PUNCH POWER: Tyson KO1 Spinks.
SPEED: RJJ, doesn't matter much which fight.
BOXING SKILLS: Mayweather, or perhaps someone like McCallum who lacked awesome speed and really thrived on skills.
DEFENCE: Locche vs. Fuji. The untouchable.
INFIGHTING: James Toney vs. Iran Barkley. Dismantled in a phone booth.
CHIN: James Toney vs. Sam Peter. A blown up middleweight taking punches from a gorilla.

Boxing skills- Joe Louis was textbook as it gets
    Defence-Pernell Whitaker
Infighting- Joe Frazier or Hank Armstrong in just about every fight
Chin-George Chuvalo. Never been dropped in the Ams or Pros.

PUNCH POWER - Thomas Hearns vs. Roberto Duran, seeing such a great fighter with an iron jaw fall like that in the SECOND round, I can think of no better example.

SPEED - Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Arturo Gatti, speed kills...

BOXING SKILLS - Bernard Hopkins / Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad.

DEFENCE - Pick a Whitaker fight.

INFIGHTING - Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo I, this whole fight seemed to be on the inside.

CHIN - Joe Frazier vs. Muhammad Ali I. Perhaps a strange pick because Ali wasn't a big hitter, but some of the shots and combinations that Frazier walked through that night were simply scary. The end of round 9 in particular, Ali really planted his feet and started teeing off, landing several right uppercuts, left hooks, straight rights... and Frazier just kept walking.

A more obvious example is Hagler vs. Hearns.

Very good examples. I think the Thrilla in Manilla shows that Frazier had a good chin, better than their first fight. The punishment Frazier took without going down was amzing.

Power..Robinson knocking out Fullmer..Gene is and was one of toughest middleweights ever and an ageing SRR stopped him with one of the sweetest punches you will see.

Speed...I agree with RDJ, Roy was something else..but ill say something different just about anytime SRL laced them up was a display of pure speed you will not often see. His fight was Green was a brutal display of combo punching.

Boxing Skills.....Probably Sumbu Kalambay-McCallum 1...To bufuddle a fighter like McCallum takes some truly sublime skills.

Defence...Nicolino Locche vs Paul Fuji...You will just about never see such frustation in the ring..Fuji just quit because he could hardly land on a man who was right in front of him the whole time...Just noticed you said that to RDJ..pure genius that fight.

Infighting Duran-De Jesus III..Argueably Duran's best performance at his best weight.

Chin...Castro-John David Jackson...Jorge just didnt feel punches like other people did.

I agree with most of the posters here, but would add Julian Jackson to the Power category. My god he could throw bombs.
    :yikes

Power: Julian Jackson against either Herol Graham or Terry Norris

Speed: Floyd Mayweather Jr. looked like lightning vs Hatton and showed the brits why Americans laugh when they refer to Hatton as a "boxer".

Skills: Duran vs Leonard for WW title

    Defense: Whitaker vs Chavez

Infighting: Again, can't argue with Corrales vs Castillo. RIP Chico.

Chin: Can't argue with Margarito vs Cotto. Miguel boxed his ass off and Tony walked through a ton of thundering shots.

PUNCH POWER: Julian Jackson vs Herol Graham

The greatest thing about being a puncher is that you can turn the fight on a dime, and that's precisely what happened here. Graham was outboxing Jackson, then boom! A right hook counter, one shot, and Herol hit the floor like somebody had shot him. He was out cold.

    SPEED: Ali vs Brian London

Ali pinned London to the corner rope, and unleashed a 9-10 punch flurry in the space of about 3 seconds. London, poor guy, hit the floor. Like the rest of us, he probably couldn't believe a Heavyweight would ever be capable of such speed.

BOXING SKILLS: Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao 1

Considering the knockdowns in round 1, Marquez had no business going the distance let alone getting a draw. For the remainder of the rounds. Marquez countered Manny's flurries, constantly landing his right hand and started to back Manny up. Beautiful.

DEFENCE: Pernell Whitaker vs Oscar De la hoya

Oscar unleashed a 5-6 punch combination, with both hands, missing every single one of them. Pernell swayed his head from left to right, and ducked so low he was almost lying down, coming out completely unharmed. Whilst Hoya grinned, the viewers must have been going HOLY ****!

    INFIGHTING: Margarito vs Cotto

Like Lederman said, Margarito didn't stand a chance on the outside. During the middle rounds, Margarito began walking Cotto down, backing him up to the ropes, and shortened his punches up with hooks and uppercuts. It wasn't until we saw the state of Cotto's face after forcing a stoppage curtosey of one of his short uppercuts, that we were aware at just how many punches Margarito was landing on the inside.

CHIN: The thriller in Manilla. Frazier was bombed out against Foreman, but how he didn't go down after taking right hand after right hand in round 14 is beyond me. Ali planted his feet at one point, landing an unbelievable uppercut that snapped Frazier's head back. It hurt Frazier, badly, but he never went down. Fantastic.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Robinson vs LaMotta VI for chin. "I never went down." "You never knocked me down Ray."

He threw like a dozen punches & not 1 of em even made contact. Everytime I watch that part I just start dying.. Oscar had to be thinking "how the hell did he do that.?"
