Ok, several of ESB's UK posters have said that they heard David Haye interviewed by Steve Bunce. During the interview, apparently, Haye said that he has signed contracts with Vitali Klitschko for a June fight in London. I have not seen any of this confirmed in any internet reports yet, but I'm going to assume it is true for the sake of this thread. Supposedly, the contracts were signed last night (a believable scenario as both men were in Manheim, Germany).

If the fight is going to go off, then, in what round do you think Vitali Klitschko will stop David Haye in? Or do you think Haye will win the bout? This is a thread to sound off and make your early predictions.

My first thought is that Haye is stopped somewhere between 5-8 rounds. Of course, this is a preliminary pick and will be amended based on any potential Vitali Klitsckho injury concerns as well as what shape and weight the two men would come to the weigh-in at.

Hat tip to Boxfan1 for the "Herbie Haye" name. This is, of course, a reference to the recent comments made by Wladimir Klitschko where he compared Haye to former crusierweight-turned-HW Herbie Hide. Hide was stopped by Vitali Klitschko during the 2nd round in 1999.

I don't see fight lasting more then 8 rounds.
Probably Vitali will take him inside 6..but Haye has speed and can land a good one which makes this fight very interested.

I see the fight being a cross between Corrie Sanders fight and Herbie Hide fight,
I dont see Haye winning, he is fast and powerful and can tag Vitali with a few power punches, but Vitali's chin seems granite, and unless its deteriated while he was inactive i dont see him hurting him, if Haye was to somehow avoid a big shot it would be very interesting, but I dont see it even though Vitali is slow.

One thing about Haye though, he is a good tactician, he usually has a plan mapped out before every fight, and seems to be able to read fighters well...but so does vitali, so...

Haye commented on the fight and said that Vitali looks good against slow opponents that don't bring the action.

My guess is that Haye will bring the action and ruin his chance of winning on a points decision and get smoked within 5...

Vitali will look horrible in the first two rounds because of adapting to Haye's speed. But he'll get his timing back and finish him off between 4 or 5

Thanks for the props on the whole "Herbie Haye" thing. I figured it was bit more respectful than calling him "the Gaymaker" .

I think this is a good assessment of what might happen.

Haye isn't stupid. He's not just going to rush in to try to test his chin vs Vitali's, particularly as Vitali is a tremendous and accurate counterpuncher.

That said, at some point Haye is likely to be down on the cards and he will be forced to try to take the fight to the taller and longer Klitschko. When that happens, and given Haye's nature it is probably going to be sooner rather than later, Haye is, IMO, very likely to eat a right hand or left hook that will begin his demise. I can also see Thunder's scenario whereby the fight does last a little bit longer, though (7-9 rounds).

    Good stuff, man. Thanks! :good

This is a nightmare fight for David Haye, Haye needs guys to be unable to cope with his power, Vitali will be able to. Haye will not be able to cope with the power of Vitali.

I think this fight is stupid, Vitali is all wrong for Haye, he will get smoked and ruin his carrer by getting in the ring with Vitali.

Vitali is the one fighter Haye should NOT be fighting

Vitali by actual KO in the fourth

I tend to agree with you, but I think that Haye has decided he's going to be known as the guy who takes tough fights and makes exciting matches even if he doesn't win them all. He's already lost his '0,' and he knows how to generate buzz (which means $$$), so I think this may actually work for his benefit down the line, even if it costs him a few "L's" at first in the HW division.

Haye is showing he's a guy who will get deals done and make fights people want to see. I have to give him and his team credit for having some kind of vision to understand that Haye doesn't need to be unbeaten to be able to make a boatload of $$$ in his career.

That said, I think Vitali is going to crush David in the ring. But, Haye is likely to take the loss and laugh all the way to the bank, knowing he can still fight Wlad later and he got to make money with Vitali before VK retired.
