temple ****s up your equilibrium/balance temporarily. chin/jaw rattles your brain and may very well knock you out cold. remember the jaw is loose, where-as the rest of the skull is solid. if your hit hard enough anywhere on the face though a KO is always possible. I would advise a punch to the chin or jaw for a KO.
I predicted the same but even though I knew there was a chance of it happening to either guy I didnt and I dont think anyone else expected that devastating a knock out that early in the fight. Esp from just one punch.
his hair gets knocked upright with the impact... his whole brain slammed against his skull... scary thought when you think about it. boxing is not a teaparty in hattons own words.
I don't know why, but I was worrying about a brutal KO heading Montiel's way, and I thought a lot of people on ESB were seeing the same thing. Maybe this is because I had always been under the impression that Donaire was the bigger and heavier guy, and that a punch from him landing on little Montiel would be a devestatingly crushing one. And as we all saw, that's exactly what ended up happening. Watching Donaire walk out first, I was seeing a guy full of confidence and intent on hurting someone. This was in sharp contrast to Montiel, who looked timid on his way to the ring. I was nervous for him from the very first bell, and it was painful watching him get caught in the way of those bombs in the first.
I now see why the ref didn't stop the fight immediately. He was hopping over Montiel and looking at Donaire pointing at the corner. Ref did not see Montiel twitching and by the time he looked, Montiel was already trying to get up.
Of the 3 being discussed, it's hard for me to pick, but I'd probably go with Martinez's KO of Williams just because I expected Pacquiao and Donaire both to win by KO, but never even considered Martinez could KO Paul.
