I think what's being overlooked here is that Choynski had apparently been one-shot KO'd by Kid McCoy prior to being KO'd by Walcott, and he was KO'd again by Tom Sharkey after that. His chin appears to have become rather unreliable at this stage of his career, and this appears to have been around the time he started his decline as a serious contender.

Not to my knowledge..The only still photo of Joe Walcott in his later years, is a photo of him holding a broom in his duties as a porter in MSG.
So many alltime greats have never been seen fighting on film today..
    Just a few-
    Joe Walcott
    Jack Britton
    Jack Dillon
    Harry Greb
    Dave Shade
    Maxie Rosenbloom ,etc...Shame!

Choynski claimed he went into the match with injured ribs.

That, and influenza. In fact it seems he made a whole heap of excuses after the fight. He was supposed to get a rematch with Walcott and a chance to prove his excuses were legit, but then he suffered an even more embarrassing KO loss to Sharkey and that became moot.

Ironically, Choynski was originally scheduled to fight a rematch with Kid McCoy on the night he fought Walcott, and that was intended to redeem himself from his previous embarrassing KO loss to McCoy. Instead his career and reputation ended up going even further into decline.

In the end, who knows. Very possibly Choynski was just simply a fighter on a fast decline, and like most fighters in decline he was in denial about his decline and had an excuse for every fight he lost.

It exists. It was pulled from Youtube for some sort of copyrite issue but it had an old Joe sitting on a bucket talking about the old days ...

The reposts say Walcott rushed right at him at the bell, surprising everyone, and had him on the floor five times in the first round ... he really beat the crap out of him ...
