Well, they already kinda are .. by the relevant governing bodies prior to a fight.

If you mean standardised though, I agree. The recent meeting of the WBC, WBA and IBF also brought it up as one of their goals.

However I can see the various glove manufacturers not being too happy (how can they pass off their equipment as the best when..well, you get it), and there's a fair few $s right there in sponsorship and ads for fighters and events... I expect it'll be a slow change in coming.
