What kind of student loan is that he can't still finish off after fighting Pac and Khan? He should be able to pay off all of his class's loans with that money.

Ditto. He made 1.67 million dollars for the Pacquiao fight alone. 100k for the Provodnikov fight.

Whatever about the Pacquiao fight, the Provodnikov fight would surely have paid off his debts!

Why on earth would he lie about that? Seriously. This is when cynicism crosses the line over to stupidity.

Keep telling yourself that line when you're pulling your hair out paying the debt. Brain washed idiot!

You mean he will continue to duck Brook whilst fight for a fraction of what he'd get vs. Brook.

Who's to say that will be his only motivation? Algieri will be motivated to win so he can make more money and have a more successful boxing career in future.

    .

Sorry DE, but I had to remove the link from your post (as im not allowed to post links)

Suggesting that Algieri is a typical student is rather wild, even fir you my friend. Algieri may be a "student" but this same student beat the ultra tough Ruslan, was undefeated at LWW and won a genuine world title. And he went the distance with Pacquiao (despite getting dropped six times). He's probably p4p the toughest student on Earth!! And if him being a student is so bad then all the other guys in the LWW division ought to be embarrassed!! Am I attempting to justify Amir fighting him? NO! I am a huge fan of Amir's and I believe that Amir should be fighting a far more significant opponent (preferably an established, world class welterweight) . Unfortunately, Al Haymon doesn't give a sh it what you, I, or most other fans think. This fight was put to Amir with the remit "Stop Algieri and you have a great chance of securing the Mayweather fight". Ask yourself this: If you were a professional boxer, who was one of the few realistic future opponents for the greatest money earner in boxing history, and a possible route to that mega payday meant that you had to fight one of the lesser fighters, simply because by stopping said lesser fighter you would allow Haymon and co to sell the prospect of a fight between you and Mayweather (by doing what Pacquiao failed to do) , what would you do? Tell them to pi ss off and insist on Thurman?? Of course not!!

Even someone who fought on TV against Pac needs still to pay his student loans .. and I study almost for free here in Germany. The US is crazy.

Tax alone is 40%, so that's around 1 mill. He has to pay his manager, promoter, etc another 20%+ of 1.67mill so in reality he made nothing close to that.

:think Taxes, manager, trainer, promoter. Not much left from 100k.
But that 1.6m should have covered it and the next 3 generations of Avacados who aspire for higher education.
