Doesn't really matter doesn't it. Mike tyson KO'd the heavyweight champion in the second round with ease.

The OP a huge, and I mean HUGE fan of the woman beater, so he wants to discredited Pacquiao for easily beating Algieri. Unfortunatly for him, Algieri is a better fighter than that Argentine his hero just fought twice.

Sh*t......looking at it this way it puts it into perspective.... 20 fights in and he has this kind of resume? Pretty impressive for a kick boxer.

It wasn't just the number of bouts but the utterly unproven nature of him against any remote contenders other than the Provodnikov victory.

While I scored it for Algieri, all the polls at the time on this forum show that over 50% of posters here scored it for Provodnikov. I can't imagine how little he has impressed for those people (apparently the majority of you reading this).

But people are conveniently forgetting how Algieri was thought of before the Provodnikov fight. Or, not "forgetting," I guess, because most people didn't know who he was before he signed for that fight. Algieri's win over Provodnikov should be most peoples' Upset of the Year based on what was said and thought of each going in.

People also showing their double standards. Whine and discredit a victory over a guy who was coming up in weight when convenient for the argument but seem to forget about it when it doesn't suit their preferred stance on the next argument. Algieri was unranked at Welterweight and had never faced a fringe contender at WW.

Credit to Pacquiao for destroying him. It was so obvious going in how it would unfold but I didn't expect 6 knockdowns, dayum. I just wish Pac had fought the plethora of at least 10 better options at WW than Algieri (Mayweather, Marquez V, Bradley III, Brook, Thurman, Porter, Alexander, Bundu, Guerrero, Khan, D. Garcia, Matthysse).

    ---

If you take away Algieri's good victory over Provodnikov, you are literally looking at a resume that is worse than Deontay Wilders'. Clearly worse than Wilders' and that should tell you all you need to know.

And then a top 5 fighter in the world chose to fight him.

Maidana has been fighting at a higher level than Algieri for YEARS.

And losing at higher levels. Maidana has lost to every decent fighter he's fought and his best wins are over overrated club fighters like Broner and Ortiz.
