Sure, Algieri is a relatively light hitter but he can still knock your lights out.

Punching technique is a mystery to some of these people. Yea, some people are naturally stronger than others, but god damn it, if you want to "crack" you got to get your body into the punch and shift that weight. Legs, hips, back.... all of it generates into power.

    Good post.

Algieri v Ruslan was close, but i felt that Chris did enough. Ruslan came in with no game plan and paid for it by swinging and missing most of the night. I don't think i have seen a more blatant "no game plan, just swing for the fences" performance in my life than Provo that night. No jab, no setting up of his attacks, no head movement and full power into everything. He was trully abysmal that night.

As for a gift. You are implying that some type of corruption went on. If there was going to be any wrong doing it would have been in Provo's favour. Chris may have been the home guy, but he was a no one back then. He was brought in as a Rod Salka type of opponent to build up Provo.

After Algieri's awful start he fought negatively, but smart, and made Ruslan look like a drunk outside of a bar at 3am.

Is KO'ing Paulie 2.0 some incredible feat? I think the hype train just left the station on a tear and it's foundation is KO'ing Algieri.

People aren't excited about Spence's resume and accomplishments. They're excited at the prospect and potential of his massive h2h talent.

Spence is most definitely talented, probably has the biggest upswing at 147. I just can't get over his gyno.

I just find it strange that lesser fighters than Algieri have almost taken spence the distance which leaves me to believe this was a bad performance from Chris as well as a good one from spence

Algieri didn't look good to me in the fight before spence. Looked good vs khan though and yes his punching technique isn't great. His main strength is movement and activity which sacrifices power.
