Chauncy Welliver was knocked out by Solis. I did not like the stoppage but he was being beaten and wobbled. He is there for a brawl. Would not be a horrible fight.
Chris Arreola (on Chauncy Welliver) "I don't really know who you are" :rofl That pretty much further validates that Wellivers WBO/WBC ratings are baseless.
If Goosen wanted to really imprint Arreola's weight loss into the public's memory, he should line up Welliver and Arreola. Between the 2 guys, they have dropped close to 100 pounds. They are both ranked HW's in multiple organizations. Welliver has a 327 HW round streak without getting knocked down. That is all stuff that would make this fight an easy sell. The other thing with these 2 would be the Pac 10 / West Coast Conference theme. Welliver is from Spokane Washinton, his trainer Joe "The Boss" Hipp holds down Seattle. They should bill it as a Pac 10 Top 10 showdown. If their camp feels Welliver is overated, then all the more reason to take him on. Welliver has been ranked for over a year now and there are no guys really calling him out. I did hear Kevin Johnson call him out and say that Chauncy chose to swim back to New Zealand instead of fighting him...but he is full of ****. That fight was not offered to Welliver. Which was the Holyfield/Williams PPV card. The fight that was offered was Welliver vs Barrett....and Monte wouldn't take it....probably a good thing cause he drew with Charles Davis....Chauncy would have whipped his arse and he wouldn't be lined up with Tua now. Neither would Chauncy though, cause Tua fears him 4 life.
