Chris Arreola: Looks like crap, but beats crap out of you

    I always liked the guy, but up to the point he fought someone very decent, I never wanted to say I'm impressed with him.

    Yesterday, I was impressed. Despite being 255, and looking like crap, he beat McCline very convincingly, showing handspeed I wasn't expected at his current shape, the usual busy combination punching and impressive body attack. He'll never look like David Haye or fight like a prime Tyson, and might not pick up an alphabet title, ever, but so what, he's fun to watch, and that worth more than a crappy HW belt these days.

    His footwork and his defense is not good enough to deal with the Klitschkos. I'm not sure about Haye, but Wlad and of course Vitali would beat him easily. He has heart, he is a fighter, but he lacks the skills.

    McCline didn't show up to fight. McCline showed up only to get a check. This "win" does nothing to improve Arreola's stock.

    Let me put it this way. I think he has very good skills and very respectable power. But I think due to his lack of commitment he is not showing 100% of his potential. And he will need it against the Klitschkos. May be after he losses one fight he will start working the way he is supposed to.

    Arreola can fight, he throws a lot of punches and is an active fighter there, his punches are also powerful. If only he comes in better shape for all fights more fans would take him seriously.

    Sam Peter would eat Areola for breakfast.
    Peter is stronger , faster, and has much better use of his jab.
    Peter just lost to Chambers who has super fast hands and for much of the fight was jabbing with him, slipping punches and backing him up.
    Areola would be nothing more than target proctice for Peter who has improved immensley.

    +1 .... I have to say it again that I was impressed with the offense and workrate he had despite being so overweight, in a way its an accomplishment. It makes you think of what he would be capable of he were 15 pounds lighter. Of course, I am saying this in the condition that the heavyweight division is right now.

    Peter, the way he has fought recently, would not beat Arreola. Arreola has a better skillset and is more active. Although Peter has power, when was the last time he ko'd a top heavyweight? He has became more ineffective as he has gained weight.
