Maybe if he is lucky enough and land a great punch, the guy is limited but pack a heck of a punch.

He can fight in the middle of the ring just fine. He has three potential major problems:

    1) His defense sucks. Just flat out sucks. A few fights ago, he was finally starting to move his head and occasionally try to pick off shots, but he seems to have abandoned this against Chazz. While he seems to have a decent chin, even a good chin won't stand up to punishment if everything is landing. He really needs to improve in this regard, and probably needs to get a new trainer to do so.

    2) Conditioning is a question mark. He's better conditioned than he was a while back, but he still has more than a spare tire on there. Even if he was in peak shape, I suspect he'd still have a layer of fat, but he still doesn't LOOK like he could go 12 rounds without gassing. He's gone solid without slowing down for 8 rounds before, so maybe this concern is unfounded, but I can't help but feel like his time as a training partner for James Toney is still hurting his training now.

    3) He has a little too much machismo. This connects with one and two. He just thinks he doesn't need to improve that much because he cares more about providing exciting fights and proving that he can take and dish a beating than he cares about being a top level fighter. Until he starts to take things more seriously, he'll never get too much higher than the level he's at.

If things break right for him, I could see him winning a belt, but he's still not going to beat any top level fighters until he can improve his defense. He can probably beat the Jameel McClines and Shannon Briggs of the world based on workrate, but I just don't see him beating too many top 15 fighters at the moment.

That's a bad thing? I think that's one of his best traits.

I see not many here think too much of Chris. But it isn't like he's going up against any all time titans of heavyweight history. A bunch of pudgy , undermotivated Russians, a slurring obese former middleweight, a rotund Nigerian with no skills other than rabbit punching, and at the top of the heap, a stiff, glass jawed, panicky Ukrainian. With that in mind, Arreola has a great chance to be the champ.

Wait you're calling Povetkin and I assume Chagaev pudgy while talking about Chris' chances to be the champ? Think about that for a bit and get back to us.

I am not sure Arreola can win a belt. He at least has power though unlike John Ruiz and others.

Arreolla is lucky to be the WBC Continental Americas HW titlist. Ibragimov would destroy him easily. Same with Cedric Boswell.

Bold claim there. I don't think Boswell has the chin or the workrate to hang with Arreola.

To put perspective on where I think Arreola is right now though, I think Dimitrenko would kick his ass.

If Arreola learned defense, he could be a supersized version of Juan Diaz. Offensively, he's pretty similar, and they do have the same body type. I've been saying this for a while now. I just feel like he's regressed since the Wills fight.

I could see him maybe picking up a belt, but undisputed I don't see it.
