with an average boxer. I think we would all agree. You put someone like BJ Penn who is practically the best striker boxing wise in mma against someone who is pretty solid like Carlos Quintana and he would get creamed [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIjb5wpLlCU[/ame]
I agree Penn,St Pierre would get there ass handed to them by top flight amatuer much less a top pro. As for money i also agree. MMA talks how they are taking over boxing but they make Peanuts compare to top boxers. Arreola is not even a champion and hes made a lot more than any MMA guy.
Well anybody with brain, knows that. boxing is all about standing up and fighting. MMA is not, there are other part to MMA. Quintana would beat all top MMA fighters under 205 in a boxing match, His style would be a nightmare for MMA fighter, a slick left handed counter puncher, He gives world class 147 and 154 fighters real problems, Man a MMA fighter would be just be that confused and frustrated by his style, I think they try a take down move on him after 2 to 3 rounds.
It's like comparing American Football with Rugby - not the same sport so pointless speculating. In a boxing match the boxer wins easy, in an MMA bout the MMA fighter chokes the boxer into submission once he's taken him down.
I would have thought thats fairly obvious, by exactly the same logic Satoshi Ishii would destroy Arreola in a judo match.
i love this debate that's why i wanted to see mayorga fight in MMA cause is my thinking that boxers ability are too much for any MMA fighter. A boxers hands are lethal and even with mma rules a boxer will win because all he needs is to touch him once and the fight is over. You see all the knockouts in mma by fighters that dont have a clue on how to strike imagine what a boxer could do. :hat
I honestly think you are deluded if you think that most boxers would win an MMA bout. Those MMA Guys have some serious skills on the floor and if they take buddy down before they get tagged, it's all over. Wha'd'ya'think?
Are you ******ed. An elite level boxer would not beat an elite level MMA fighter in MMA the same as an elite MMA fighter would not beat an elite level boxer in boxing. Do you think Roger Federer could beat the number 1 squash player in the world at squash ?
Lol here it comes the MMA nuthuggers, MMA is just street fighting. You're crazy if you really think that all that karate and jujitsu **** really works. That only works in movies. They dont have any kind of special skills. Is WWA with different rules and now people are giving them credibility. Of course they look good fighting eachother but once a professional fighter gets a hand on them they'll be done. Is too easy to defend agaisnt a takedown and once they put their heads down to try and take you down is an uppercut KO. I give MMA credit they have brain washed the public with all their promoition into thinking that all this martial arts **** really works. This reminds me of a black belt karate guy talking all this **** and a friend of mind that was a boxer knocked him out with just one punch. A boxer wins easily with a jab as soon as they try to take you down you hit them with a one two maybe an upper and the fight is over. :hat
You know this is just an incident right, the guy obviously didn't have any punch resistance at all! In some cases it's exactly the other way around. There have been karate and kickbox champions who easily made the transition to boxing and became world champions there.
