Firstly, would anyone actually want to watch this fight? Secondly, who do you think would win. It's not like Tua will have to go looking for Arreola. This could be a fun war
Would be nice to see Tua fight a ranked heavyweight again and if he somehow pulls of the upset could put him in line for a title shot. But Tua is pretty much shot. He no longer has the power of old but he still might hit hard enough to hurt Arreola who looks more vulnerable at the lower weight. But I suspect now even a crude slugger like Arreola would beat Tua just on workrate alone. I hope I'm wrong though and Tua somehow pulls out one more good performance, would love to see Arreola get properly KO'ed. Prime for prime this wouldn't even be a contest, Tua would KO him quickly.
Tua is done. Even his once granite chin showed decline vs. Barrett Arreola maybe on an upswing, we shall see as soon as he steps up and losses even more weight.
Interesting matchup. I would watch it. If Tua were in his prime then he would clobber him. I do not think he can win in his current condition though.
That fight will never happen. Just in case nobody has noticed, Arreola's opponents are barely G.G's level HW's.
Just in case you didn´t notice Arreola is fighting every few weeks and is obviously fighting bums to maintain his conditioning and keep his name out there (and it has worked, Steward is already talking about him). He will obviously step up soon, even a blind man can see that.
Cris takes this based on workrate. He doesn't need to lose any more weight (235lbs is fine), he's just working on firming up and attempting to use more head movement. Apparently the head movement is there in the gym, but once the bell rings he forgets all about it. Arreola's next opponent should a ranked Euro, not Tua, though.
I'd love to see this fight despite Tua's apparent decline. Arreola always comes to fight and Tua can still punch and take a punch so this would be a good action fight with(objectively) a likely decision win for Arreola. The problem with Tua, besides the diminished physicality that comes with age, is that he's only fighting for money due to some legal troubles. The fact that his motivation is now in question makes an estimation of his chances in any matchup a blind guess. Sadly, I see an RJJ ending in sight for the Tuanator:-(.
I WANT Tua to win this one, but feel Nipples will most likely wear Tua down for a rough decision win, maybe late tko at this point. Unless Tua was actually injured badly against Barrett, and has healed properly, then I will think differently. I honestly hope if Tua destroys Barrett in their rematch, that Tua's crew could talk about a possible eliminator for a #2 spot or something (I'm sure one of the alphabet soups will oblige) against Arreola.
