Chris Arreola looks like a promising heavyweight with a considerable upside to his career. My concern for him is the spare tire around his midsection and the complications it could pose for him if he fights a guy that takes him past the middle rounds. Any chance seeing him in a fight vs either Klitschko brother? I believe Arreola has the potential to knock both out. The power and the skills are there, just not the endurance from what I've seen from him so far.
Originally I thought Arreola was going to replace Povetkin. I guess that fell through Thats a good thing though as I don't think Chris is in a position to make a competitive fight with either Wlad or Vitali right now..He needs to get in there with upper tier HWs before a proper assessment can be made
I'm not impressed by him so far. I'd like to see sharper more accurate punching and better work rate. He needs some time before he is ready for either Klitschko. He has potential if he works harder.
A few things bother me about Chris A. First his obvious spare tire, there is no excuse for him to have a spare tire. Secondly, though he is very srtong, he appears to push his punches. Thirdly, Chazz W. actually seemed to hurt him with a jab to the body in the first round. All in all, he will get slaughtered by one of the K bros.
Chris won't do anything with either brother if he comes into a fight with either one of them in the shape he was in for his last bout. That being said how would a superbly conditioned Arreola fare? I think I would like his chances against Wladimir better. Arreola can bang and Wladimir does have that shaky chin. But if Wladimir can keep Arreola on the outside with that good jab of his and mix in his right cross and uppercuts, I pick Wladimir by decision. Arreola appears very durable and has even said he likes getting hit. But from what I have seen of him he is very hittable and that could cost him against the elite heavywieghts. As for Vitali, I would see him outboxing Arreola in much the same way he did with Peter. Vitali doesn't have the chin issues Wlad does, although he doesn't have the power of his younger brother. Vitali by decision.
Pretty much what I was thinking. To me, when a fighter shows up in the kind of shape Arreola is in, it indicates that he isn't really serious about making it in boxing or isn't in boxing for the long term. It's more like they are in it for the quick million dollar payday, and then good-bye. The only hunger he is showing so far is for the tacos and beer, which isn't my idea of a fighter who loves boxing. Secondly, I also agree that he appears to push his punches. No fluidity whatsoever. It's almost agonizing to see him throw punches. Best bet would be to see him in there with a Andrew Golota, Monte Barrett, Dominck Guinn, or a Tua. Then we will at least be able to see if he can get past the gatekeepers, and will determine if he is a pretender or contender.
Chris is aggressive and hits hard so that is enough to beat Wlad. VK is another story. He could beat Wlad not Vitali
Arreola hasnt got the slightest chance against the Klitschko's. Although he seems to be a very strong fighter with a good punch and chin he needs to improve his stamina and obvious weight issue together with a lot of untested things as well. Also - Arreola doesnt have the talent to qualify as a top 5 HW in my book either.
Arreola willingly eats punches to land his own. He even admits this much. Trouble is; he hasn't been hit as hard as he would be against either Klitschko. Furthermore, he lacks the range and speed he would need to consistently get to the chin of either man.
