If Chris comes in shape he could suprise some people. We can't label the age tag on Vitali so quickly as he seemed fine in the Peters fight. Maybe Arreola's pressure might make Vitali look slow. This is something that could realistically happen. Hopefully Chris brings it. Hopefully he's in peak condition.
I hope Chris wins but I don't see it. Even with the aged Vitali, he would pick Arreola's open defense apart and put him down for the count.
Wlad seeks out punchers. He took on Peter when he did not have to, and re-matched Brewster. Its not Wlad's fault Haye bolted from a signed contract and went for Valuev's belt. Vitlali is going to beat Arreola. It could be over inside four rounds.
I'm puzzled by these comments, as you are a good poster. Did Arreola do more than Chambers or Povetkin to earn a fight with Wlad? Not in my book. How is Vitali stealing this fight from Wlad, who initially was scheduled to fight Haye, and settled for Chambers?
In no way am I implying that Arreola is more qualified to fight for the title than Povetkin and Fast Eddie or somehow implying that Wlad is avoiding anyone. Wlad has my respect in that he's willing to take on all comers and he's proved it. What I'm saying is that it would of been a good fight for Wlad in a year or so because Arreola's a power puncher that comes to fight, in other words the type of fighter Wlad can have trouble with and the type of opponent that will help his legacy down the road :good
Areola stock, like every un-defeated non champion's will take a tumble as soon as he's Ko'd. I think Arreloa has some things going for him, but he's going to need better stamina and a good chin to make up for obvious flaws in his offense and defense. The way for either Wlad or Vitali to up their stock is to have guys like Arreola, Chambers, Povetkin, and Haye fight each other before facing the Kltischko's. Then at least we can say the winners proved something before going for a title shot. In truth, Wlad drills big guys with limited to go defense early. See Wolfgram, Jefferson, or Austin. I think Wlad is so good right he hardly ever hit flush, and his opponents fear him. Those who consider boxing the art of hitting without getting hit should be fascinated with Wlad. There has not been a champion who did not get hit often for years. You'd have go back to the prime Roy Jones days. Arreola might say he's going to come out with guns blazing, but most of Wlad's opponents say the same thing. Then they get hit hard, and decide swinging for the fences is an invitation to get whacked. Vitali is not Wlad. He's an intimidator, and far more agressive on offense. Unless father time took a lot of sand out of Vitali's hour glass, he's going to out class Arreola and stop him. I think the fight is a mis-match.
Very, very true. I was horrified when Wlad signed to fight Haye for the very reason that Haye lacks any wins over a top 10 HW. If Wlad went out there and took him out in round 2, it would be a decent win but nothing special because Haye had never proved himself against the big boys. Haye-Valuev is an excellent fight, and I'm ecstatic about it. Assuming Haye wins, this solidifies his standing as an elite HW and makes his showdown with Wlad much more meaningful.
Why the **** do you want a slob like Arreola on the throne? Like he's speaks for the future of boxing......... Arreola is in the mold of the 80s chumps like "Dokes, Coetzee, Page, Tubbs, Spoon, Berbick, Tucker, Thomas & Smith." But with less talent......... Why is Arreola being hyped??? MR.BILL
I don't think he's being hyped. In fact everything I read is "Does he Arreola really have a chance." I think Peters was far more hyped and Arreola has superior skillset. I think Peter might bang a bit harder but Arreola is the better boxer. I agree, he needs to get in shape but I think it would be cool to see a fresh face and a mix up in the division. HW division needs more shaping. Having the first Mexican HW champ would be kind of cool. The Dragos need to go, or at least have a legit challenge. I'm just hoping this is one...
Do you people really give a **** where someone is from before awarding them a positive stature? That is ridiculous if so. Technically speaking, Arreola is in trouble. Wlad would have provided more of a chance.
Both Arreola and Sam Peter are just strongmen in a circus act...... I see very little boxing skill from either dude...... Both can bang, and both are easy to hit... Peter has already been exposed, and Arreola is soon to be exposed...... MR.BILL
Peter has a great chin as well, Arreola's isn't as sturdy. Not to mention Peter has also some solid boxing skills before, which I've never seen from Arreola. He couldn't apply that or his power against Vitali regardless, so I don't see what Chris is going to accomplish besides make a interesting but losing effort for 6 or 7 rounds.
Relax. People are always more inclined to like something closer to them, something they can relate. Whether that be liking a Spanish boxer when being Spanisher, a Mexican fighter when Mexican, or a Italian boxer when you're Italian. It would be nice thing, it's not like I think of these things on a daily basis. And frankly, I'm a bit sick of the Klit brother, but even more sick of them not being fairly challenged. Maybe Arreola can bring that. Hopefully, and if a belt gets out of the hands of an Eastern European it would be nice to see it be won from by an America and cool that he would be the first Mexican HW champion.
I'm rooting for Vitali because he is not being a disgrace to professional boxers by being in worse shape than the average bus driver. However, i think Klitschko is slipping and at 38, a 26 year old, hungry (no pun intended) challenger could be the end of his alphabet reign. I would love to see Wlad vs Arreola afterwards.
Theoretically Vitali could 'get old over night' against a young hungry contender, unfortunately the only hunger Arreola has seems to be for Tacos. However despite being a fat ass he maybe, just maybe able to close the gap and pressure Vitali. He probably gets a prolonged beating but you never know in boxing until a man gets his acid test
