I think Arreola is a genuinely nice guy and he's fun to watch b/c he always comes to fight. It's a shame about his weight though b/c when he starts fighting better opposition I think his weight will be a problem. His aggressiveness can help if he fights Wlad but I think it's impossible for him to beat Vitali b/c he can take a punch and is more aggressive.
The guy can seriously improve his career prospects by cutting weight. Not having to carry all the flab around the ring for 12 rounds helps and the casual boxing fan might take him more seriously instead of just being another overweight heavyweight.
who gives a ****. he hasnt lost yet and untill he does everything you say and think is irrelevant. its that simple
Oh yeah.... how did blowing up in weight wrok for Kirk Johnson, Sam Peter, and Riddick Bowe who all burned out at an early age? You just can't walk around like a fat sack of **** and expect to compete at a high level for very long. Sooner or later that extra gut will come back to haunt him. Unless he comes to his sense and starts coming in shape of course.
Thats not the point because they all lost...My point is if he's comfortable with fighting overweight let him be...I'm still going to watch him regardless (cant speak for anyone else) I do agree that it might catch up to him but it hasnt yet so let the man do him...He knows his body better than anybody on this forum.
he realy needs to get his ass in gear it real simple, he is in need of humbling one good lopsided battering followed by him getting KTFO should humble him and make him realise i need to start getting more seriouse
Arreola fought really well against McCline but I'm curious to see how he does going in the later rounds, I saw him destroy Malcolm Tann but he was in better shape then. Arreola can do some things but he's not going to be elite, good guy though.
That was quite a ref in there! What a stinker that Knox guy was, too... if Peter had given him 5 seconds rest, he'd have tripped on his shoelaces and gone down. Looking for a picture of Nipple from his amateur days; no luck yet.
Of course weight matters. I can't believe the people that think it doesn't matter as long as he's been winning. True - he IS winning, but the blubber and man boobs ARE hurting him. If you walk around with a 25-30lb weight vest you'll use much more energy than if you didn't have it on.. obviously. Now try fighting for 6-12 rounds with that extra weight, and of course you are going waste a lot of energy just moving your body, let alone punching, getting punched, clinching, etc.. He NEEDS to get it together if he wants to make a serious run at become world champ.
