This man has single-handedly undone the shoddy legacy of the most negative, dirtiest and boring fighter in this generation who somehow successfully spoiled his way to a few title defences. It was about time someone got rid of this interminable scourge and there was no better man than the honourable gentleman Chris Billam-Smith. He's more than worthy of being a champion of the world, because he's the champion of the hearts of the boxing world. Praise be the mighty CBS, he is our saviour!

I forgot to also wish well to his mother dealing with breast cancer, hopefully that champ money CBS is making will help towards curing it.

I think he should replace Charles as King and named person of the year by Time magazine anything short of that is a travesty.

    CB Smith I Salute you:worship2:

Really pleased for him and I've been tooting his horn for a long time now and telling people he's underrated.

    British champion
    Commonwealth champion
    European champion
    World champion

    Impressive

And he should be undefeated. I'll put my testicles on him winning the Riakporhe fight and no one can ever convince me otherwise. That bogus KD the ref scored against him still makes me mad when I think about it because I still can't comprehend why people think it was legit.

I knew CBS can punch, has a stout beard, and has a big heart but even I was sceptical he could make that final step up to become a world champion. But he's done it now.

And he definitely deserves a medal for slaying and exposing the octohorse Okolie who should've been arrested for the crimes he's committed against the sport, his opponents and entertainment long ago with that hideously ugly and dishonorable cowardly cheating style of his.

The worst thing is imagine if CBS had got caught with a huge right hand and knocked out late due to fatigue from all the holding and mauling. That was a very distinct possibility. He would've been robbed of his dream and the greatest night of his career and all because the ref was very reluctant to DQ Okolie when he categorically should have been and deserved to be long before the final bell.

He would've 100% been KO'd in the 4th after that KD had he not gone into hyper octopus mode for the remainder of the round. A hurt Okolie somehow manages to hold even more than he usually does and that shouldn't even be humanly possible.

Well done CBS! The sport delivers for a change.

People shouldn't underestimate the durability, mental strength and stamina it took to win that fight given Okolie's advantages in height, reach, weight, strength, power, championship experience and unlimited grappling. CBS having Okolie's former trainer in his corner was important, as was his vast experience sparring Okolie. Nobody had come close to beating Okolie prior to CBS doing it and few were giving him much chance before the fight. Okolie's best victim Cieslak was no mug, of Usyk's cruiser opponents he'd be somewhere in the Huck-Mchunu-Bellew-Glowacki bracket and Okolie beat him wide 116-111. Briedis and Opetaia certainly weren't interested in taking on Okolie in Britain as CBS successfully did, it's a fantastic win. Perhaps the best cruiserweight win since Usyk shut out Gassiev.

Hopefully now CBS is the champion and hugkolie the challenger we'll see stricter refereeing in the rematch. The ref was extremely generous to hugkolie in only deducting two points, which didn't nearly compensate for the level of fouling. Fortunately the china-chinned hugkolie hit the deck three times and the two non-bent judges punished him further.

CBS deserves a knighthood for services to UK sport for removing the biggest stain on UK boxing in the 20th Century.

Okolipus hugs the living daylights out of any kind of entertainment from a fight. Whilst the inept referee tries desperately to not deduct a point and let him get away with murder.

With a high profile embarrassing loss finally on his record and his card well and truly marked. This is the end of Okolipus. Hopefully he gets shipped off to America to fight at HW where he can disappear into obscurity.

Spot on this. Read a few comments saying how bad CBS was and he won’t hold the belt long. His game plan was perfect to take down Okolie. It might not have been pretty, but not many fighters are going to look good being hugged literally every 2 seconds.

nice guy but, barring his last fight before Okolie, he’s a struggle to watch. he makes you realise how difficult the sport of boxing is, and that’s not a compliment.

I've always maintained his chances of losing skyrocket if he has a fair ref who actually does the job they're supposed to do. Him fighting in CBS' backyard played a big part in that last night and Shane McGuigan screaming at the ref all throughout the fight about the holding was key too.

No it didn't. Okolie came out of the gate in octobear mode and he persisted with it all night and he should've categorically been DQ'd long before the finish.

If you tallied up the number of flush clean shots CBS landed they probably wouldn't reach double figures and that's because Okolie was hugging him like crazy, falling in and smothering all the time, stiff-arming him with those ridiculous leg length arms of his tons too, and using his elbows and forearms to push or keep CBS off balance or out of position when he was trying to get off with shots of his own.

Basically he did everything he could, whether it be within the rules or outside them, to prevent CBS from being able to hit him or even throw shots of his own.

He did a lot of other dirty and dishonorable stuff too. He's the kind of guy who cracks you with a cheap shot while you're taking your jacket off for a round of fisticuffs.

Can't believe the judge that had it 112-112 after 3 knock-downs and 2 point deductions, I mean the only way this score is even mathematically possible is if they gave Billam Smith 4 rounds but discounted one of the knock-downs, right? CBS hands down won more than 4 rounds

Hodlers (holding on for dear life) are not welcome in the sport and it's about time someone was made an example of, Okolie being the prime candidate.

How about ref Marcus McDonnell? He was brave enough to deduct Okolie 2 points for his excessive holding. If it wasn't for McDonnell, judges would give the win to Okolie. Mcdonnell is the true hero of last night.
