Rahmans also a better boxer in my opinion. Peter had a lot of potential but he blew it with his laziness. He went through three top trainers that left him because he refused to work, and now hes stuck with Tyson reject Stacey Mckinley who sucks.

He certainly wasnt fighting top comp from 98-2002, Byrd aside. 2003 he fought the number 1 and wanted a rematch. Sanders destroyed Wlad and Williams destroyed Tyson. Johnson many thought was robbed by Ruizs acting.

On his comeback hes beat Peter, Arreola, Johnson and Gomez all were top10 contender types. Peter had beat Toney and Maskeev and floored Wlad 3 times. Gomez is an ex cruser champ beat all but 1 man he faced, skilled boxer and certainly earned his shot. Johnson and Arreola were young and prime and Johnson had some serious speed and defensive skill

You do realise Valuev and Haye turned fights with Vitali down? Povetkin is Wlads mando, CHambers has just been destroyed, Chagaev has been battered. Vitalis next opponent is unacceptable though

No Vitali isnt fighting murderers row opponents but I wouldnt question his balls to fight the best. His dominance is pretty special

I'm certainly not a Vitali hater, but, off the top of my head, with no peeking at BoxRec: Brewster, W. Klitschko, and Rahman would have improved his resume. Even a victory over old Holyfield wouldn't have hurt. Wins over Byrd and/or Lewis would have improved his resume, particularly over Lewis in what was Vitali's big moment to shine against an aging, past it, linear champion. At this point in his career, I'd be surprised to see him improve his legacy to any great degree.

There were a slew of very good fighters for Vitali to fight from 1998-2002, and he chose to take on none except chris bryd(whom he lost too).

Powerpunch, I would classify Kevin Johnson and Arreola both as young and green. Both did not have the experience on world class level yet. Whom has kevin johnson ever beaten? Arreola?

I agree SQ raised a valid question. I also agree that it was properly and accurately answered. To call him a coward is incorrect and wrong. To say he ducked guys is innacurate. In the early part of his career he was making a ton of money in Europe and both Klitscko's are very smart when it comes to risk reward. He took the shot at Lennox on very short notice when Lennox was still recognized as the best heavyweight in the world. He fought Sanders after he creamed his brother. He came back and fought Peter after Sam bounced around his brother and had just won the title with his biggest win and best showing ... Vitali is a real fighter. I happen to think he is much tougher than his brother and would knock Wlad out. I always did. He fought tooth and nail with a still very, very good Lennox, he beat Sanders, he crushed Johnson, he destroyed Arrello. Not the greatest competition but this is who is out there.

Doesn't that say more about the state of the HW division? Nobody wants to face the top and beat the best and prove themselves. That's why we get all those supposed undefeated great upcoming HWs. Who did they prove it against in world class stage? Luckily, we're getting Adamek vs Arreola so there seems to be something offered to us.

Agree with point 1, but how many of them wanted to fight him? Hide, Bean and Donald were decent fringe contenders, some other gatekeepers to the top20-30

Vitali is at a disadvantage himself against the young guns at the age of 38, is that right? The level of conditioning he has for his age is admirable

The thing about Vitali is, his style is ugly to watch, no massive power, not that fast, nothing flashy, but he is accurate with solid straight punches at a very high workrate, very strong.

Straight punches? He throws loopy arm punches...he puts no body torque into them. His brother is soo much better.

Looks like Danny Williams and Evander Holyfield know how to push through the pain. Vitali does not.
