And who do you think would win? Both are same in age. Both are shot. I know most of you will say you don't want to see it, but it still might be interesting. And don't give that "Roy in his Prime" ****, even in his prime in no way would this be a "gimme" for Roy. Byrd was a supreme boxer who was a blown up MW and top champ at HVY, and used his boxing skills, speed and defense to beat bigger fighters.
Yeah, I would still like to see it... And I think that Byrd will be able to pull it off, now he is in 175 weight for a longer time.
byrd looked as if there was something wrong last fight and he definitely came down too much too soon. RJJ looked alright vs calzaghe, but he couldn't pull the trigger (through likely a combination of fear of being countered and shot reflexes), but he at least didn't look as if fans should be afraid for his health. if byrd is alright and is healthier, maybe it would be a good fight. but the fight wouldn't do much for either guy so what's the point (doubt it would sell too). rjj should call it a day, but i still don't think he's totally shot. byrd might be totally shot and should definitely retire. prime for prime, rjj takes it clearly at lhw or 190 catchweight as byrds assets were his speed and defense versus bigger and mostly slower guys which wouldn't serve him too well vs prime rjj.
Oh gosh. No, they shouldn't fight, but if they did, I'd go with Jones by decision in a boring ass fight.
How about at a slightly higher catch-weight? Honestly, it would be a sad, irrelevant fight by two guys whose best days are far, far behind them. Let's skip it!
