Lewis avoided all southpaws, he vacated a title in order to avoid Byrd. :deal

It probably has less to do with Byrd being a southpaw (or anything like a threat) and more to do with this...

...as well as Don King paying Lewis $1M to vacate. Easy money.

Byrd did beat Vitali but we all know it was due to an injury, Vitali was well ahead on the scorecards, so Vitali wins a comfortable decision.

Holyfield did lose to Byrd but he was already past prime when he fought Lewis, another 3 years of decline saw Byrd face a shot Holyfield. Evander lost his next 2 fights to Toney and Donald which shows just how bad he was by the time he fought Byrd. 99 Holyfield wins a competitive decision.

Byrd beat Tua only a year after Lewis did so he'd clearly beats Tua.

Tyson was shot or close to it, he would have a punchers chance but I see Byrd winning a clear decision over 2002 Tyson.

Let's flip this around how does Lewis do against Byrd top 5 wins?

Vitali - Lewis of course beats this less experienced and injured version of Vitali worse than the one he faced, very likely makes him quit before the shoulder injury forces a stoppage.

Tua - Lewis beat a younger Tua by a bigger margin so clearly wins again.

Golota - Byrd won a decision, Lewis smashed him in a round, I see another quick KO here, Lewis too big, too powerful, too good.

Holyfield - Lewis already beat a better version of Evander twice before, so this shot version gets stopped.

McCline - Lewis walks through him like he did Grant, no contests.

Thats a nice way of putting it :good

Honestly, Lewis would just lean on Byrd, jab, grab and just tire him out and beat him to a UD.

Or, he could drop one of those huge right hand bombs on Byrds chin really early and lay him out.

Remember Byrd is a southpaw and Lewis had an atomic right hand.

People accuse Lewis of ducking southpaws, i keep asking which southpaws he ducked?

The closest thing to Lewis who Byrd fought was Wlad who beat him twice and Ike who sparked him.

Byrd would survive with Lewis, as long as Lewis wants him to.

Lewis didn't want to shame himself by stepping into the ring against a guy like Byrd and make a laughing stock out of the HW Championship.

Byrd managed a career campaigning in the worst HW division known to man after Lewis retired , where middle weights and Crusier weights went to get easier fights.

In the Lewis era , in his prime, he was getting blasted out in 5 by fringe contenders.

Byrd when he was at the end of his carrer provided Wlad Kiltschko his best win.

You would think Wlad would of blitzed Byrd in 90 seconds like Tyson done Spinks. But , no he had to hug, maul and jab his way to one borning UD and anther stinker 7th round tko.

Wald an ATG??? Haha ..good one.

Byrd beat Vitali and Vitali NEVER sought a rematch. He knew he was beaten by a better man.

Lewis beat Vitali and Vitali was kicking and screaming for a rematch but never got it. Vitali knew Lewis was ripe for the taking.

The funny thing is, Lewis beat the **** out of Vitali worse than Byrd ever did. In fact, worse than anyone ever did.

Byrd the better man? come one, you must be having a ****ing laugh.

Golota -Byrd was ruled a draw , but Golota clearly won the fight.

Scored two kd an all that were ruled as slips. And that version of Golota was beyond shot and couldn't even pop out a jab.

The only reason. Byrd won that fight was due to Vitali's injury ..

Yes I hate that whole "Lewis never fought a southpaw" lie that haters like to throw out like it's the truth. Only southpaws that counted at the time were Moorer and Byrd and nobody rated Byrd or wanted a Lewis Byrd fight at the time.

Lewis would have easily handled Byrd, he had nothing to hurt Lewis with and couldn't even out box Lewis because he was far too small and lacked a good enough jab to match jabs with Lewis. It's a real stretch to seriously think Lewis was ducking Byrd.
