Until I see a fight announced and see Byrd actually weigh in, I am not gonna believe this is happening.

Will his defensive skills be as evident among the faster, more agile LHW's?

I am intrigued about this. Chris Byrd going down 30+ pounds?

He would be fine there, with even more speed and also more power. The only problem is a problem that affects him in all weight classes: Age.

Byrd's prime was 2000-2005 or something close to that.

Too late for Chris to do anything big... a big money fight maybe but nothing more... but Byrd has to realize (or will realize in the ring) that the fighters south of HW are much quicker, mora accuate, busier and better conditioned than the big boys - so there's a good chance that the first elite CW or LHW fighter he'll meet will knock him out...

But I definitely want to see him... Byrd vs. Jones, Dawson, Hopkins, Woods, Erdei... interesting fights...

    cruiser : fine

but this just made me ga when i heard it.
thats really worring. his advantage was being a small hard to find guy. being lighter will reulst in a guy who is small but wont have his advanatges in speed and elusivness

anyways good luck to him i think he could do it

well true but it was his career move to go to heavy.

it wasnt like he was a small guy he was a pretty built. and in that his size was his advantage he was able to hit and run and use his quicker handspeed, elusivness, amatuer pedigree and a talent for dealing with bigger men.

i thought he shoudl go to cruiser mainly becuase heavily naturally built guys with a decent enough handspeed and power can back him up and do damage.

at cruiser he would have both hieght speed and expereince in ihs favour.

Nah, thats not true in a recent interview he said at the time he was already weighing about 180-183, and he hadn't even begun sparring yet,he said he usually dropped even more weight when sparring. he said if people were to see him now they would either think he was in very gool/lean condition or sick. He said he actually still has a little fat on him
