Chris Byrd - Could He Have Beaten Wilder?

Byrd clowns him. Byrd actually fought and defeated legit top 5 guys. Wilder will be 38 in 2 months time. Never faced Wlad, Povetkin, Joshua, Usyk, and host of other guys. Got ko’d twice by Fury. His record is made up of fringe guys and a 45 year old Ortiz with no juice.

 

It's Byrd by decision ofr a Wilder KO. Byrd's only got to worry about that one punch really and he's extremely good defensively. He's got to fight an almost perfect fight all the way thru however so it's a solid ask.

 

He could most certainly, remember he avoided Tua for 12 rds who was a devastating puncher and like Wilder he carried his power till the final bell.

 

Tua didn't have a straight right.

Wilder would line Byrd up and it's obvious.

 

Wilder fought Fury 3x and Stiverne was near the top of n the division when Wilder beat him. Byrd, on the other hand, was gifted his title for beating a one armed, geriatric Holyfield. Forgot that part.

 

This is an ironic question because it's quite clear that Byrd doesn't think he would have beaten Wilder and would have found the prospect of fighting him very intimidating:

Byrd is not a mover, he likes to hang around the ropes make the other guys miss and counter, thats how crazy Ike got to him, WK kept him long and bombed him plus Byrd is no defense wizzard he got hit a lot but had a good chin.

Wilder has landed big on every single fighter he has met and so far only Fury was able to take but came with a literal hair getting stopped in two fights.

Byrd is gonna get nailed by the right and that is all they wrote

 

Why am I reading posts giving Byrd a chance based on his Tua win.. Tua and Wilder had different styles.

We know Wilder has a tone of heart and will to win. And Byrd has no pop to deter him launching those nukes until they explode on impact.
There's only one victor here and even Byrd himself knew who that was

Wilder lost to Fury three times (for practical purposes).

Obviously we salute him for his win over Stiverne, but it does leave his resume a bit on e thin side.

 

Practical as in suiting your agenda.

 

Wilder lost all three fights against Fury period.

I couldn't for the life of me score their first encounter a draw.

 

I see a draw on the books and Fury was fortunate to have neither been stopped nor down on the cards in fight one.

 

I see a draw on the books, that is hard to argue.

Fury might well have been fortunate not to be stopped.

I personally thought that he would be.

I wouldn't have objected if it had been.

Given that teh fight was allowed to continue, it most emphatically should not have been anything other than a win for Fury.

It wasn't close on the cards.
