And I don't mean just his style of boxing of landing a few pitter patter punches that look pretty but don't do anything, then getting outta dodge. I mean the guy in general, he always talked about god alright cool but he was such a huge crybaby, I'm watching him fight Ike right now and in the 2nd Ike lands a punch on the bell and Byrd acts like he just flying dropkicked him off the top rope. And when the fight gets stopped he whines even more.
I've met him. Top bloke who takes time to talk to fans. I doubt anyone who has met him would have a bad word to say about him.
Great guy who started out as a middleweight and became a titlist at heavyweight. Has never embarrassed the sport with outside the ring antics and presents himself as a good role model for youngsters. Had a great win over one of the hardest punchers in the game in his victory over David Tua. What's NOT to like?
I like Chris Byrd as a fighter and a person. he conducts himself with honor and respect outside the ring and never has an unkind word to say about anyone. And for the record - he is the ugliest crier in the world. See the aftermath of his fight with Vitali Klitschko for proof.
I've never met the man, but on TV he seems like a decent guy. It's his wife I dislike. She always uses "we" when they talk about fights, but I've yet to see her in the ring with boxing gloves. She goes beyond just cheering him on...it's as if she was angry he was getting blasted by Wlad Klits and the last guy he fought. Anyway, that's the impression I got.
he had a huge heart that's for sure! But I did not enjoy his fights! Except from Wlad II fight that was a brutal beating!
You're pissed off with a fight that just got hit with one of that hardest punches landed and he gets up and complains that it was a slip. Then when he gets stopped he yells at the referee to let it continue.... yea what an ass
Byrd would die. Peak Byrd might go a few rounds but Byrd would get literally decapitated if he fought Minto now.
