Chris Byrd is criminally underrated here

Extremely skilled fighter in my opinion. Not a real heavyweight and held his own really well. He beat Tua and was frustrating the crap out of Ibeabuchi until he landed that monster shot and he got up. Good chin, good skills, reflexes, no one talks about him here. A prime Byrd would beat a lot of the guys fighting right now.

True. Schooled Holyfield and Tua. Lewis wanted none of him to the point that he dropped the belt just to avoid Chris Byrd.

Yep, Vitaly ducked a rematch instead of trying to avenge his quit job where he only landed 8 more punches in spite of being almost 40lbs heavier and 8 inches taller. Bytd is definitely underrated.

Byrd was all right, a quick, skilled smallish HW, similar to Chambers, perhaps a bit more gifted. He was pretty fortunate to get a draw versus an aged Golota...it is what it is. I think most people remember him and his skills fondly so I'd say he is rated just fine.

Wlad is just boring as **** in a weak era. He's still skilled and an ATG, its just most can't stand watching him.

Do you have a source for saying it was previously injured?

I've seen the interview dozens of times and he never claims a previous injury to his shoulder.

Vitali's arm went numb, so he knew that a nerve was pinches. If Vitali had not stopped his career would have been over. Buddy McGirt made a mistake when he waited to long to get his surgery. After that fight, which Vitali was winning, Vitali had over 2.5 hours of surgery to his shoulder. He sent us a picture of himself when he was in the hospital. Byrd himself said that Vitali was a much more difficult fighter to fight than Vlad, and Vlad beat the crap out of Byrd, also knocked him out in the second fight.............

There was no injury...there was an old injury but it didn't inflict on the fight. -Vitali Klkitschko

No mention of a previous shoulder injury.

So he wouldn't risk his career against lil, light hitting Chris Byrd, but he was going to against a beast like Lewis? Yeaaah, ok! :yep

There was no injury previous, just an excuse. If there was he said it had no bearing in the fight. Pretty easy to discern if you're not looking for a reason not to my man!

I agree with this completely. He did show great heart. And as I've always said, Vits fans should be thanking Lewis no matter what they thought of the fight. Without that fight Vits would have always been remembered as the quitter.
