It also reaffirmed what I already stated about Lewis thinking about retirement. On top of that, at the time Tyson was exercising his rematch option which would have definitely taken Byrd off everyone's radar HAD there been any interest. After that Byrd was tied up with Holyfield and Lewis with Vits. So I fail to see where the duck is, the contract or the damand outside of the IBF as I have already stated more than once.

No. It seems now you are just throwing out theories and excuses without any research.

In the complex contract for the Lewis-Tyson fight it was agreed that if Tyson won the apparatus would be in place for a rematch, without either boxer taking an interim bout. If Lewis won he would be allowed one interim bout before facing Tyson again.
This was designed to enable Lewis to honour his commitment to a mandatory defence of the International Boxing Federation part of his championship. The IBF No 1 contender, Chris Byrd, an awkward southpaw from Michigan, has taken legal action to secure his position.

Lewis, 36, plans to make no statement about his future until August. [url]While it is possible he could retire[/url], he is understood to be leaning towards a fight with Byrd, for which the payday could be in excess of £5 million.

No research? Lol, I used your own link to take apart your argument. The bottom line still and always has been that there was no demand for the fight. Not a single boxing scribe and not a single fan was clamoring for this fight. You said HBO set aside a date for this fight...I've proved that untrue. Lewis said the same thing as I've been saying...no interest. Its all in the link YOU supplied. The heavyweight champion is not a slave to some ABC org, its the org that serves the heavyweight champion.

Now I've said I would have liked to see this fight happen and why, but this was no duck. It was a fight that never got made because of circumstance, Circumstances with a potential Tyson rematch, circumstances with the point of Lewis' career and circumstances with him contemplating retirement all factor in to the circumstance of no demand for the fight. Now you can post what ever you want my man, but you're not going to change my opinion and obviously Im nit changing yours. But I remember very well the goings on during this time and at no point was anyone looking for a Byrd-Lewis fight no matter how much Chris deserved it. With the resume Lewis has in comparioson to many champs before and EVERY champion afterwards, I'd say he was entitled to miss a few fights without them being called "ducks" when no one was wanting to see them. You of course have your opinion, and I can respect that if not agree. But this is mine.

-If you did more research you would know why 12/07 was set aside for Lewis. It was to accommodate a court ordered deadline of 12/08/02 for a Byrd IBF challenge per the Tyson ruling.

-Well clearly your opinion is not going to be changed if you are going to stubbornly insist on something that has shown to be false.

-Hey, I'm not trying to say he had to fight everyone, but when he walks away from a #1 contender and upwards of (5 million pounds) 10 million dollar payday with only his opinion that it wouldn't be a challenge as an excuse, its going to raise red flags.
