Williams talks about how he knew he'd get robbed since the fight was in Byrd's backyard, and how the crowd booed the decision. You can hear the booing in the film

So how does the effect your ranking of Byrd? I guess Wlad and even more so Vitali's rankings will need to drop to reflect this information. Maybe Lennox will have to drop a few places depending on how much credit you gave him for the Vitali win.

I don't get it, but apparently this is the stuff people love talking about now.

Seriously though, fighters are going to have trouble in some fights when they're developing, it's what you'd expect. It really shouldn't matter much in ranking them when they are at their best, especially when they fought plenty of top opponents and got good results.

There's much more interesting stuff to talk about than bashing fighters for having trouble early in their career.

I don't know why people rank Byrd anyway, so it doesn't effect my ranking. I just don't rate him.
I'm not sure what all the love of Byrd is about. He was a unimpressive alphabet/paper champ.

Guess Marciano must be awful if he loses to Byrd then...

At his best I consider him a top 25 HW! Wins over Vitali and Tua and Holyfield. Def had some stinkers but he generally only lost to the best at the time. I also think he beats Holyfield at his best every time. Style was just all wrong for him.

People complaining about heavyweight being all people want to talk about, but then just furthering the problem by further talking about heavyweight ****.

    Great job helping, bro.

Williams was 6-2, 203 pounds with an 80" reach. He would have been a superheavy in the 1950's.

This. When I used to visit different boxing gyms regularly I've seen plenty of heavyweights (even some top heavyweights) get dropped by super middleweights, light heavyweights, and cruiserweights in sparring. Even the biggest and most durable fighter can be brought down by a much smaller fighter if he's timed with the right shot and smaller fighters tend to have faster hands and better timing.

I've made loads of threads on other stuff that hardly gets talked about, even though they get no replies.

    Hahaha.

If the forum was obsessed with hating Byrd you’d have struck gold.

No, it’s you constantly plugging your youtube channel which does the trick.

By the way, Arthur Williams was actually a pretty good fighter. He would be competitive with any of the champs today. He gave a prime Orlin Norris all he could handle. And he later held the IBF Cruiserweight title for a while. There is really not a lot separating the skills of Chris Byrd from King Arthur.

This low effort thread doesn't bother anyone else? Have I became too cynical or have the rest of you just accepted this lame brain normality we've accepted?
