I think right before the Grimsley fight he lost to John Ruiz which I couldn't believe at the time as the last time Ruiz was seen was being eaten alive by David Tua. Thunder had clawed his way into the alphabet rankings just before this and could have possibly gotten a shot at a title (outside chance at maybe beating Moorer?)

    Moorer would’ve killed Thunder.

Probably, but Moorer was also sleepwalking through portions of his fights at this time. Trust me I'm not making Jimmy Thunder the favorite in this match

Thunder was 31 and he was never going to beat Byrd at any point in his career.

It’s true that Moorer was a guy who was really inconsistent but the gulf in skill and athleticism would be too much. I’d look like Moorer-Botha except Jimmy gets slept brutally.

I agree with this assessment, with Moorers chin, questionable motivation at this time, it could be fun while it lasts. Would of definitely been more entertaining than Moorer vs Bean

On his very best night Chris Byrd was a B level fighter who looks good fighting B level fighters and spectacular fighting C level and below fighters.

WIll Usyk-Joshua be a repeat, with Usyk taking on the Byrd role?
