Chris Turd, I mean Byrd would have a decent chance. Usyk isn't an overpowering heavyweight, that I can see. I still remember how offended Larry Merchant would get at Byrd's total lack of power. Like in the Ibeabuchi fight, Merchant was seriously miffed, almost seeming angry, commenting to the effect "those punches wouldn't hurt a fly"
Uysks movement and workrate would win him a decision. Byrd was more upper body elusive, less workrate.
Usyk P4P is on another level to a prime Byrd, the only thing that could stop Usyk becoming agreat heavy is power, but Byrd didn`t hit any harder than Gassiev did v Usyk and didn`t throw enough shots to make his bigger size count against Usyk.
Byrd was a successful heavyweight who's best wins match Lewis' best wins. Usyk just had one fight at HW against a bum...
people forget how good byrd really was skill wise. vitali, Tua, McCline, Holyfield. Impressive resume
I’m with Heavy Hitter on this one. Byrd gets a lot of crap from people around here but he has wins over Evander, Tua, Vitali, Bert Cooper, and went 12 with Wlad (L) and Andrew (D)Golata. He had no power to speak of at HW but he could move well and give big punchers fits. I hated him at first but eventually admired his style. You can’t deny Byrd’s impressive resume. He had a very good career for a guy who couldn’t punch with power. That said, I would slightly favor Usyk in this matchup because he is an elite boxer but would not count Byrd out. The man was a slick fighter who beat several top guys. I’d like to see a Byrd-Fury fight. That would be a fun one, although maybe not. It would either be really good or REALLY bad.
Isn’t Usyk bigger than Byrd? I could be wrong but don’t recall Byrd being a large man, at least not a tall one.
I wonder if the same idiots were saying “Byrd don’t got the power to be successful at HW doe!!” before he won those fights. And Usyk beats Byrd by a comfortable UD. It would be somewhat competitive do to Byrd’s style but Usyk is just better overall.
hey I can see your arguement, usyk is elite and supremely talented. byrd however walked the walk at heavy
