To this day, I still wish this one was followed up with the logical immediate rematch, but sadly it was never in the cards.

Going to check this out right now!! I was always fond of that brief moment where King would put on those stacked Heavyweight PPV Cards. I feel like Golota got the short end here and also got the short end against Ruiz. I think he deserved to win at least one of those fights and pick up a title.

Nice work Rummy.Yep this fight is a somewhat forgotten classic in which both fighters
    enhanced their reputations.
Chris Byrd is probably the finest technician the heavyweight division had seen since
    the great,equally underrated Jimmy Young.

The Byrdman made the decision to sit in the pocket and trade with Golata. I thought going into the bout, Chris would use angles and turn him while peppering away. Nope. Traded with him all night and it was and Golata still could not capitalize on an opponent fighting the wrong fight.

Very good fight, Chris Byrd had already started slowing down a bit by this time which is why the fight was as close as it was. Being a tiny, elusive HW with no power and fighting a good, big, technician is always gonna be a difficult task. Golota, as insane as he was still had good fundamentals.

Still thought Chris won, but it ended up being a rougher fight than it should've been for him.
