Stop already. ****ing Earnie Shavers only stopped two contenders by my count, cruiserweight Ellis and poor chinned Norton. Briggs actually put away proven chins like Mercer and Liakovich. Heavyweight is full of huge punchers who didn’t land the right punch on the right guy.

You’re the “eye test” guy right? Stick to the script then.

    Think it's all addressed here:

The way I see this fight going, Foreman plods forward behind the slowest punches in heavyweight history. Byrd lands one or two punches and circles away. Over and over and over again.

Prime Foreman blasts Byrd out. Old Foreman does not.

Eye test means different things to different people.

Briggs doesn't pass the eye test for me in terms of power.

He's obviously not Zuri Lawrence. But for example why would I believe he hits any harder than Hasim Rahman, or Oleg Maskaev for instance?

He has a myth of being one of the biggest punchers in history and it isn't warranted.

Cool. As long as you put him above Shavers in power since he proved it more in the wins department.

btw Rahman had top shelf power if you stood still and let him tee off with a right hand.

I don't have a ranking system for power punchers, but if I did the Briggs wouldn't be one that immediately came to mind as he never actually proved his power.

As long as you put him above Shavers, that's good with me.

Have you watched Liakovich--Brewster? It's the best heavyweight fight of all time imo.

Rahman could really bang, though. Maskaev was no joke either.

The only joke is somebody that thinks Wlad Klitschko doesn't crack the top 15 HW in history

That's kinda what I mean. Obviously Briggs can bang, but so could a lot of guys who he often gets ranked over.

I've never ranked guys by power. Often power is a byproduct of style. Movers and volume punchers often sacrifice power for other things, even though they can hit hard when they sit on their punches. For example Corrie Sanders was actually really more of a boxer type than a slugger. It's only really when he got older and his legs went that he adpoted a power punching style.
