He is a dangerous top contender in this platinum age of heavyweight boxing. Picture Joe Frazier but bigger and badder with an even sweeter left hook! He has a few decent scalps so far, the highlight being his enthralling victory over prime former WBO champ Joseph Parker.
I would make Byrd the favorite, but Whyte would be a credible opponent for him. Somebody asked who Whyte has beaten, and the answer is that he keeps taking dangerous fights, when he could simply coast to a title shot.
Well he’s beaten Joseph Parker, Robert Helenius, Lucas Browne, Derick Chisora, and Oscar Rivas.. Not an elite bunch necessarily but definitely some respectable wins and even some risky ones. That said I’d favor Byrd to win a close decision but this is understandably a pick em fight.
