Who wins this fight of highly skilled technicians. I think Walcott stops Byrd late. Thoughts?

This is a tough one. Walcott has knockout power in both hands, but I could see him having a hard time with Byrd’s style. If Walcott doesn’t stop him I could see Byrd taking a decision off him.

Walcott would win he holds majority of advantages might actually be a somewhat lackluster fight with never guy being very aggressive. Joe via decision.

I'm confused. What advantages does he have? He has power, he has creativity, but what else? He isn't quicker, he's smaller, he has slower, worse footwork, he's easier to hit, he doesn't have as good a jab, isn't as tough. He also doesn't have any experience with a southpaw of any class.

What are the majority of these advantages?

Tough one. Walcott didn’t really have problems with cute fighters. But not sure how he handles Byrd...only because both fighters are so unique it’s a tough one to gauge. Could go either way I guess.

If you think Walcott has worse footwork you need to watch more of Jersey Joe's fight he clearly has better footwork along with the best feints ever. I personally feels he's more difficult to hit and obviously more powerful. Don't see weight being a huge factor in fact Joe is naturally the larger man Byrd bulked his way up but didn't hold the weight the same way guys like Frazier or Tyson did who weighed the same, byrd even made lightheavy late in his career. Walcott may not have experience against a southpaw like Byrd but Byrd has never faced anyone who boxes like Walcott.

I've seen plenty of Walcott's fights. His footwork is immensely overrated.
He was definitely easier to hit, hence why he was in more great fights.
'but' implies like it doesn't go both ways.

Would be a chess match between two great technicians. Though Chris Byrd was a highly mobile and skilled fighter, I’m inclined to go with Walcott who battled a MUCH better technician in Ezzard Charles

Walcott’s foot work is incredible. Maybe a slight waste of energy but the same can be said of Ali, Holmes, Fury, etc

It's above average. It's fast. It's not even 2nd best of his era, at HW. Louis and Charles had better. It's not up there with the best ever.

I disagree...can be wasteful at times but being unique in boxing can pay off as it did for Joe. Despite all his dancing watch his feet. Always balanced always deceptive. Interesting to watch.
I wouldn’t put him top three but I’d say def top ten somewhere
