Chris Byrd's Bodywork on David Tua

Saw that fight the other day. Ballsy performance by Byrd that round. Tua came out hard and pinned Byrd up against the ropes so Chris obliged and banged with Tua on the inside and managed to hurt him with that sneaky counter left uppercut and then went to work on David's body that entire round.

Byrd deserves some mad props for standing right infont of that human boulder all night long and not backing down.

 

Yeah, this is a very accurate analysis of the fight. While Byrd did a great deal of boxing, his counter punching and body work is what put Tua in his shell and kept him at bay. Very frustrating to constantly read cut and paste garbage of "Byrd and Lewis outboxed Tua." Completely true but not the whole story.

 

That's probably my favorite Tua myth.
