What you don't seem to know, is that William Scull is fighting next week against Canelo Alvarez!!!! So you can rule the '''might well have been totally out of shape'' out They are both going into the biggest fight of their careers.
Could he have just miscalculated the weight cut here? The later press conference didn't help, either. Given the difference of 0.2 lbs, his weight on the hotel scales could have been precisely 160 lbs. He also had his sweats on underneath his tracksuit, with a towel under that. It could simply be that he was hoping to lose any difference on the walk down and run out of time, but then he was almost 2 hours late for the official weigh-in time. As someone else said, the difference in the end was probably what his beard weighs.
I am well aware of that. And my point stands. The two could have easily been at different stages of fitness. And also, what you don’t seem to know is that yesterday Scull’s promoter Ingo Volckmann gave an interview yesterday confirming that Scull was at the start of his camp and out of shape when he sparred Benn and that they had only ever agreed to an 8 round spar with minute rests.
Assumed you didn't know him, cause I think only the most hardcore fans watched Skull vs Shishkin. They both looked in shape and it was 3 weeks ago This content is protected
Looking in shape and being in 8-10 round sparring shape are two different things. At the end of the day it’s all smoke and mirrors. One side gossiping against another side. No one knows what really happened without footage and in any event like I said, Sims and Nigel are hanging onto the fact that Scull stopped after 8 rounds, not that Conor flattened him or forced him to quick. To a reasonable person you can see that it’s most likely hyperbole on Nigel’s part.
As a fan of both Eubanks I’m starting to get a horrible feeling about this. As funny as the egg thing was, it struck me as being not very Eubank-like and I feel exactly the same about the weight miss. I hope I’m wrong.
I wouldn’t read anything much into the weight miss. The amount of weight he missed by is utterly minuscule. The egg thing was just his way to ensure the public is on his side. Throughout the promotion he’s been cleverly appealing to the public and making himself their favourite - paying the fighters who lost money on their camps is another example. Seems to me the same old Chris Jr and I thought he looked great last time in Saudi.
Just seen Benns post laughing about missing weight and the money Classless little runt Chris needs to completely **** this rehydration clause off
Circus on both sides here. I'm afraid I have problems taking either camp seriously. Benn - for obvious reasons, I struggle to believe a word he says. Eubank - has spoken incredibly well at press conferences, including yesterday. Yet much of what he is doing is clearly performative. He accepted the terms for a huge payday and is a willing participant here, making clear at the press conference that the weight cut is going to be tough but well within his capabilities. I also thought the egg stunt was well beneath him: when you're as eloquent as Eubank can be, that kind of stunt tells me that all he cares about is the pay-per-view sales. It's tough not to pay attention because it's going to be a big event, but I hope I manage to put my attention elsewhere tomorrow night The worse this does, the less likely there will be a rematch.
Wouldn’t surprise me if eubank done this on purpose to look weak and drained etc, he’s a mastermind of mind games.
Everyone has known for a while he is struggling with the weight, they weren't calling him fatty yesterday on the off chance. He should never have agreed to it, you got to pay those poker bills though.
Have it on good authority that his team were scrambling round last night trying to get certain things changed !
I have no idea why Eubank accepted those weight clauses. He had the moral high ground to demand what weight he comes in at and he is the more established name and the draw. Benn couldn’t make the same money with anyone else.
