Eubank is pretty well spoken and intelligent though, as is of course his father. They get into specifics. Whereas Broner was just a bellend who came out with cliches, as well being someone who used to blow up in weight between fights. I take your point though, he did have an aura in the ring and it was a surprise when the agricultural, limited Maidana pierced the bubble.

BJS is just embarrassing himself. It's horrific viewing.

BJS is making himself look like an idiot. You can see him get riled up by every act of confidence shown by Eubank. Mentally he's defeated already.

I think even if Eubank lost on points it so early in his career it wouldn't do him any harm anyway. Would just set up a rematch which would be another big fight. All the pressure is on bjs here, regardless of his trash talking. I think he's made a mistake taking this fight. Looking forward to it regardless :)

This is kind of my feeling too... To say BJS has been in with people 'a hell of a lot better than Eubank" doesn't feel like a true statement, but if it were true it would still be disingenuous. CEJ is at the start of his career and BJS is further into his own. Has he had more fights? Yup. Further up the 'curve' of progression? Yup. But have these fights been massive events or some sort of order-of-magnitude away from CEJ? no, not really. If CEJ and indeed BJS are ever to be world-class, then the resume of both can be considered domestic level at this point.

I just don't think the opponents of either are, taken without looking at other factors, much of a barometer of how this fight will turn out. Who has had the better sparring over the years? Who has trained the harder? Who has the more raw talent? Who carries the power? Speed? Sharpness? I see no big gulf in any of those departments that would lead BJS to call CEJ ****, start wanting to place 100k bets, and say 'I will retire if I lose'.

Resumes mean nothing in the world of boxing, ask Shawn Porter.
    Its all about styles.

Does BJS have the style to beat CEJ, and vice versa.

That's all it boils down to.
    Not what happened months/years ago.

I think BJS will start of strong, winning the earlier rounds with his skill and work-rate.
I think he'll tire towards the end, and with CEJ's better pacing I can see a KO happening or a close SD in Embanks favour for finishing the stronger.

7-5 to Eubank type of fight.
It all depends on BJS conditioning for me.
    He's not fitter than Eubank.

This fight reminds me of the Froch vs Groves fights.
Groves is arguably the better boxer but his stamina & pacing is poor.

Well of course it's subjective - that's kind of the whole point of my post. Some people just seem oblivious to things like a fighter's intelligence, the way the talk etc, and point to objective (imo often banal and irrelevant) stuff like resume, especially in this case when Saunders has hardly fought top opposition either. By the way,, I think the objective favours Eubank too. Naturally bigger at the weight, and just a far better specimen, along with fast hands and power. I think he will shut down Saunders in a similar way to Hopkins does to fighters. Feint him, and get him thinking too much, before using his speed, power and all-round sharp-shooting to break him down.

Chris Algieri for example. I had never even heard of him until he beat Provodnikov, but then I watched a few of his interviews and background etc, and it was clear he was very intelligent, measured individual, and that translated into the fight.

I could well by proved wrong, but I can just see it so clearly now. Saunders will ringside after the fight saying "fair play to Chris, he proved it in the ring. He will be world champion, trust me". Eubank will sittting there next to him, glum-faced as usual, acting as if he's had tougher sparring sessions, and he'll probably be right.

    ^^^

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

    But that's your opinion.

I think you've got it spot on with the fact that Eubank Jr is just the better all round athlete plus has the guidance of his father too which is a massive well of experience and knowledge to draw on.

Without trying to come across overly rude, it probably doesn't make much sense to someone who clearly is hostile/unreceptive to intuitive thinking and the observations/conclusions one can glean from it. If everyone had a "let's just wait until fight night" mentality the forum would be dead for weeks on end.
