full press conference tomorrow with fight announced. http://www.matchroomboxing.com/news/eubank-jr-signs-new-promotional-deal-with-matchroom/
I saw an interview with Hearn yesterday on IFL was asked what fights he'd like to make and I'm sure he said "Eubank Jr Vs Golovkin" as one of them and I thought I misheard but it makes sense now.
Good news. Hearn wanted to put Joshua and Eubank on the same PPV undercard for the next few years as a duo, I think it's a good concept. Eubanks Jr in a competitive fight legitimises those PPV cards. I want to see him box Lemieux, Lee (what a great fight that could be, can easily be made now Booth isn't involved with Eubank) or Jacobs at least before the year is out.
You reckon he'll actually get any of those fights this year? It'll be a mediocre option at best for him on the AJ June card, given the time frame. he might get more of a name toward the end of the year but I don't know...I'm dubious.
Not surprised. Where else could Eubank go? If he wants exposure he needs TV. Matchroom have TV. If he wants big fights again who has the money? Sky and Matchroom. I think Eubank is one fighter Sky were very keen on retaining.
He's a quality boxer, needs to tell his dad to do one. He's a boxing equivalent of a slag, been round every promoter and trainer in the country.
I think Lee is realistic. Last I heard of Lee he were rumours about a Jacobs fight. Lee-Eubank Jr is a huge fight. Could easily go down as a WBO or WBC eliminator. Both fearless and probably the biggest domestic fight at the weight other than a Saunders rematch for Eubank. Genuinely don't see why that can't be made. After the Jeter farce and the Blackwell situation I really don't think we'll see Matchroom put Eubank Jr in any mismatches now. The public outcry would be too much. Competitive fights only by demand now.
I doubt Hearn has managed to tie him down to anything more then a 3 fight deal so I really wouldn't be surprised to see him jump ship again at some point. I also find it hard to believe his ego will allow him to continue playing 2nd fiddle to AJ on PPV...sooner rather then later they will expect to headline themselves which could create issues - let's see
Weird how he just upt and left last time round I don't see anything special ail in eubank junior just a rough guy with decent skill level And golovkin punches holes through him
I think Sky would love to have him a headline a PPV in good time just not now. He needs the right opponent to headline a PPV so fighting on the AJ undercards getting plenty exposure is perfect to build him into becoming a genuine PPV star on his own.
