Degale and Eubank Jr are inferior to Callum Smith and Groves. They are the second tier.

James Degale has never had a fight where he hasn't sat on the ropes. Which means he will lose.

    Unfortunately James seems done

Can see Eubank doing one of those 100000 slaps a minute thing whilst James is leaning against the ropes, and the ref shitting himself and stopping it

    Probably around round 7.

Junior looked very poor against JJ McDonagh and maybe he’s lucky that JJ had his own plans of feigning an injury to try and get money off the bookies!

As for the OP, ive always been high on young Christopher of the manor. I tipped him massively to beat Groves! I mocked people who picked George claiming it was pure wishful thinking! Boy did that bite me in the arse! But I’m back here again on the junior hype train. I’m tipping him to take Chunky into deep water and drown him.

However, I’m a bit concerned with some of the interviews I’ve seen from the camp particularly with his sparring partner Denis Douglin & English Snr. Without saying as much, you can tell Douglin doesn’t rate Chris that highly & Snr has certainly cooled his enthusiasm on the young pup. But I’m sticking to my guns and going for a championship round finish or points win!

Good points mate. I’m aware I could be doing exactly what some people did for the Bellew-Haye fights. All the signs are pointing to Degale being physically shot.

Mate did you see the JJ McDonagh fight?

It looked to me like he took a dive and the betting patterns were extremely odd.

One bookmaker refused to pay out after receiving a load of bets on a stoppage in the round the fight ended. I wouldn’t base an assessment of CEJ on that match up.

This fight for me is a question of how much does DeGale have left. The Truax fight in my eyes suggests that he doesn’t have enough left to beat the likes of a CEJ.

Edit: just re-read your post, we agree. I read it the wrong way!

Yeah mate. He took a ridiculous dive in the first round. I remember thinking watching live that he must have twisted his knee or something but no. He must have realised his acting skills were horrific so got back up and thought it best to make up a shoulder injury. I remember the suspicious betting at the time, and how JJ’s cousins were apparently texting people pre fight on what to bet.

My point is that Eubank was looking bad against a guy who wasn’t even trying to win.

This. Although I pick DeGale by clear and emphatic points win.

The gulf in boxing fundamentals and experience will be far too much unless Eubank has basically reinvented himself training wise the last 6 months.

Badou Jack and Truax mauled DeGale, true, but they and in particular the old Jack does everything Jr does significantly better.

I'm a big fan of Eubank Sr, who for all his zaniness and downplaying of it, came up the hard way from a teenage delinquent from Peckham, earning his stripes in Bronx sparring wars and later wars in the ring.

But Jr, I'm just not getting it. As someone eruditely put it post Groves, it was like someone threw a personal trainer from DW Sports into a pro-boxing match. I don't think Naz was far off the mark in his post-fight rant tbf. He apparently can't throw a straight right hand, which obviously is a slight issue against a southpaw like DeGale.

That being said, DeGale has apparently made some ominous comments regarding his future, and if he knows this is the last "big one" he may have completely slid and resort to rope-sitting early on and attempting to pick off Jr when he comes charging in. But I still find it hard to see someone as skilled as DeGale would struggle to counter the Jr we saw against Groves.

Tough one to call this. Degale is undoubtedly on the decline with 2 poor performances against Truax but everytime Eubank has taken a step up hes been outclassed by both BJS and Groves. I think there's enough rivalry in this to get De Gale up for it which should see him win on the cards. Either way ill definitely be subscribing.

If Degale is at or anywhere near his best he beats Eubank comfortably making him look stupid in the process. If he is the Degale of late he gets outworked and beaten up. It's as simple as this really for me.

I'm going with Eubank, not because I think he's any great shakes, but because Degale looked shot to sheet against Truax, who is mediocre himself. Couple wear and tear and shoulder injuries with the tendency to sit on the ropes he had anyway and I think Eubank can just out windmill him. That said, if Eubank tries to make it a boxing match, he loses anyway, because Degale even now is far classier and sharper. The key for Eubank is not to try to learn new tricks, for this one anyway.

I will watch it, but will I hell be paying for it!!! This fight is nowhere near the standard of card that should even be talked about as pay per view. It is an insult to the fans!!!

If Degale shows any of the flaws or frailties he showed against Truax, I feel Eubank Jnr. will stop him late. I think Degale may look good for 3-4 rounds but, the instant he starts taking those time outs along the ropes, which he ALWAYS does, I think Jnr. will go for him big time and start roughing him up quite badly.

Degale has never really had the power to keep a full blown SMW honest and although Jnr. is small for the weight, he has displayed a good chin if nothing else. Degale needs to turn the clock back 2-3 years to really have a chance here and I just doubt he's got that desire and will to win anymore.

Too many wars and flat displays from Degale for me to think he pulls out a rejuvenated performance, especially given the shoulder injury he suffered in the past which hardly ever fully heal. Eubank Jnr. TKO rounds 9-12.

I think Degale might be able to dig out one final performance and win on points.

Eubank stoppage. Degale seems done, and Eubank's non-stop assault style (while not massively hard hitting or effective) will be awful against Degale's stuck on the ropes trend. I hope I am proven wrong though.
