SUPREME GARBAGE - british level and world level are two different beasts. He won his british titles on his athletic talents alone. Same as Wilder, his athletic qualities have carried him. But at the world class level - its skill that separates fighters, period.. Eubank has no skill, no ring IQ, none. He is ****ing garbage. Groves didn't even need to move out of second gear agsint Jr until he hurt his shoulder. Eubank had no answer on how to close in and adapt to Grove's counterpunching.

I think Eubank Jr with a tight decision. Actually think the fight will be a decent watch. Off round my mates for poker night. £5 in each for Boxing, with beers, poker, and takeaway Curries. Sorted.

For me Degale is going to have to really sit down on his punches something he doesn't always do consistently. If he's just fencing then backing up Eubank is going to really go after him. Should be a good fight. I expect Eubank to look awful in parts especially if Degale starts using the shoulder and turning him but his volume and aggression he get through at times. Degale needs to have improved from both Truax fights to win I I think. He can't afford to take rounds off sitting on the ropes that's asking for trouble. Truax landed some great uppercuts in fight 1 if Eubank can set them up with Degale trapped on the ropes that could give him something to build on and its a punch he looks for a lot.

Like I said previously, wouldn't pay a full £20 alone for this, but when you can share cost 4 ways, definitely game. Would have been game at sharing between 2 and a tenner each tbf.

I genuinely think it's one thing being a fan and another being a fighter mate. In reality, at 33, the majority of athletes in any sport are taking whatever calculated gamble seems best to maximise income. So there's your answer. He's doing this because it was the best chess move available to maximise take-home, with the best possible moves remaining on the board should he lose. I wouldn't look much past this - most decisions are commercial beyond a certain point of 20-something keenness.

Would be interesting to know how much the ‘retirement fight’ will net each guy. I hope they aren’t relying on ppv buys to cover purses because every PPV bar sky’s tends to do less than 100k. Frampton Warrington, Juniors ITV ones (maybe Groves exceeded but not massively).

Current poll shows the following outcomes
    1. Degale UD- 29
    2. Eubank TKO/KO- 21
    3. Eubank UD- 15

Degale is going to need to improve from the two Truax fights to be victorious here. Although this fight could be the Indian summer of his career.

Degale wins by relatively wide UD. Yeah he lost to Caleb Truax, which probably had something to do with the fact he was coming off of an injury, and the best Truax had looked at Super Middleweight was being KO'd in one by Anthony Dirrell. So he took the fight for granted, thought it would be easy work, but by that time Caleb had gotten acclimated to being 168 pounds, probably trained his heart out for this big opportunity. So you had one guy not taking this seriously at all, and the other guy taking it more seriously than any match he'd had to date. Which is usually recipe for disaster.

Degale will get up for this one, he doesn't like Junior, and the thought of losing to him, a wide UD victim of George Groves, is probably genuinely mortifying to Chunky. James will end up looking brilliant, and everyone will think he's back, but the reality will be that even the Degale from the second Truax match is too skilled for Chris Eubank Jr.

Yeah, the last paragraph is certainly true. Degale has been calling Jr a talentless bum for a long time now and I don't think he will be keen to lose this one. I certainly believe Degale thinks he will win this handily - he wouldn't have taken the fight if he felt it would be too close.

People are saying the fight is Degales to lose, and the result depends on how far he has dropped from his peak. For me it's the other way round. This fight is really about Eubank Jr. Can he turn in a performance against a good version of James Degale? Can he reproduce the type of form he is fabled for in the gym and in sparring under the lights? Can he win a defining fight?

If the same Eubank turns up who seems to choke a little and fall back on raw aggression when behind on the cards, this finally confirms his level and degale will win (even Degale 2.0).

Which explains fight 1 but what about the 2nd fight...won on the cards but 2 of them were very close. It wasnt like he destroyed Truax he got past him showing the same flaws he always has. Degale was sharper with his offence and there was more of it - he still got dragged into the trenches and cut.

Loosing to Eubank will really have Degale up this thats for sure - i hope its a good fight

Possibly, but he’s going to win on Saturday. I’m convinced. Shame there’s no value in the bet, Junior is slight favourite which shows what the bookies know, but if you put a fiver on a Degale decision you only get £13 back.
