You’d expect Liam Smith to win this one. I would imagine it would be PPV since Taylor Catterall is. On an IFL interview Hearn said he was considering doing a “big, non-PPV” show on the same date in the UK. I wouldn’t be surprised though if Eubank sits around waiting for a BJS fight on DAZN instead, as it would be an easier fight and he’d make more money.
Eubank wins, Smith will go at him and Eubank will win the exchanges and is a naturally bigger guy, but it will be a competitive and fun fight, it has the style matchup to end up being an absolute tearup
Looking forward to this one a lot more than I was Benn Vs Eubank. Should be a great scrap, may the best man win
The intangibles are that you KNOW which version of Beefy will turn up, while having no clue which version of Eubank will be present. The fire and brimstone Eubank makes it a great fight, the Pound of Shop RJJ doesn't
Doubt either fighter underestimate each other. Should be a close competitive fight but would expect CEJ to get the decision.
Sky haven't learned much from the Eddie era. Regardless of the furore that followed their first encounter, that is not a PPV fight. Only a really strong undercard could justify it. Junior-Smith doesn't warrant PPV, either, though I like the fight well enough.
If this was a regular Saturday night card I would be buzzing. A proper British dust up. But I just don't see this as PPV, it's essentially a cross roads fight with 0 title etc.
Brilliant fight, hope it happens! A true 50-50 for me as Eubank has overall been inactive and fought poor opposition with some lackluster and slightly odd performances in there too. He is the bigger man, but the former statement balances things out. He also likes to fight at his own pace and in clusters of activity often taking quite a lot of time off in rounds so Liam Smith will push him and challenge him on that front. Eubank for me has decent but not great power, so Smith will perhaps not be too daunted about coming forwards and letting his own shots go too. Difficult to call but I have to go with Eubank based on size and physical strength despite his flaws. He needs to start quickly though and land some decent shots round 2-3. I think they are a very similar age just a year apart I believe but Liam Smith has had real wars and taken beatings in the ring even in fights he has won. That for me tips me over to pick Eubank to win as he to me is a far, far fresher fighter at this stage/age.
They're different for sure. The one I went up to in Scotland had a DJ in-between fights and at first I thought it was daft but he had the place absolutely bouncing before the main event.
Jr needs to fight so hope it happens. Jr vs Smith is stylistically a really good match up for it to be entertaining. Smith is a bit of a grinder that will force a good pace and is very crafty and experienced. I know Smith gets a bit more respect around here than Jr but I just can’t see how he can win lol. Smith just doesn’t have the power or speed to win. I think he has less of a chance than Williams but twice the balls so will make it a good watch. Williams did have a big punch but was too timid and didn’t try to win. Smith is a good name on the resume. Williams was also a good name tbf, just the way he lost made people complain. Williams and Smith is near 50/50. First fight Williams was winning 2nd fight was close but clearly Smith win. Liam is the most skilled brother but not very athletically gifted p4p especially compared to Callum.
Ah of course, I've already made my Boxxer debut a while back. Marku was headlining and yeah that DJ was ridiculous. He was dropping bombs and smashed glass effects all night, even over sweet Caroline haha.
This sums up my thoughts exactly ! It truly does have the makings of a cracking fight and whilst I'll hope for a Beefy win, I'd have to give the edge towards Eubank. Smith has started slow in his last few fights and then when the engine gets running his pressure, shot selection and grit wear his opponents down but Eubank will prove difficult to wear down.
