the first thing that needs sorting out is the ridiculous corner situation , what the hell is going on in between rounds , how the hell can eubank be so ignorant to think he does not need a trainer to give advice during the fight and he is just there to put vaseline on his face (eubank's own words) . when ronnie davis did eventually open his mouth with some conviction at the end of the 10th he was told to "BE QUIET" , seriously WTF !!
yea it was the first time I have watched him LIVE and I was really surprised how bad his technique was considering he has trained with some good talent over in the US alone. The way he throws that damn uppercut on repeat had me laughing too reminded me of my brother playing fight night on the ps3 just spamming the buttons One moment nearly had me falling off my chair he threw a straight right, missed and stayed in some weird ass pose I need to find that clip
When BJS boxed he completley embarrassed him to be fair. I was actually laughing how bad he looked in the first few rounds
I agree completely that BJS could have wh a lot easier if he boxed like he usually dies, eg against Spike o Sullivan. He probably would have pitched a shutout if he'd done this. :thumbsup
neither is world level in my opinion although im open to the chance of being proved wrong in the future Saunders has some good basic fundamentals which is what won him the fight as Jr is so flawed and was way too tense in the first 5 rounds
Breaking News!!! Glamour muscles don't win boxing matches against Olympic level competitors! Glad we figured that out
The styles did not mesh well. The fight was not "easy on the eye". The wife - a casual fan did not enjoy it much either. I use her a a yardstick for measuring how "attractive" a fight is - and by the wife-measure this one ****ed. But for the boxing afficionado - there WAS a lot to appreciate, if you know what to look for. :thumbsup
Exposed ? Not really, lacking the experience maybe but he gave Saunders a very hard fight and has a bright future
Agreed, but I'm not so sure that his "bright future" is guaranteed. A lot will depend on whether/how long he can continue at 160. Size and strength and power were the only areas he was better in, IMO, and he will lose even that advantage at 168......
One thing you can say about him, bjs never rocked him really or had him hurt just outworked him and nullified his work in early rounds with holding
Usually boxers who's father's were very good but didn't quite cut it as champs make great fighters as they're old man forces them to do better. Mayweather Jr is the obvious. Buster Douglas didn't want to be a boxer but his father pushed him hard and he has some serious skills but poor dedication.
