Chris Eubank lost to every good fighter he faced! Very Overrated!

One of the most overrated UK fighters ever

    Lost to Joe Calzaghe
    Lost to Steve Collins twice
    Lost to Carl Thompson twice
Should have lost to Nigel Benn in the 2nd fight ( it was a draw)
Should have lost to Ray Close twice( draw and a SD win)
Should have lost to Michael Watson twice ( Majority Decision, and got totally owned on the 2nd fight till what happened)

Ducked all the top american fighters that were about that that time when the Soviet Union countries couldn't turn pro.
Never fought a top amercian in america despite there being loads of top americans in his weight class at that time.

He could easily have had 10 or 11 losses
if he'd have had the balls to have fought Jones Jnr, Toney, McClellan and Nunn he would have lost to those and would have had about 15 losses

Despite being in some good to watch fights, most of his fights were WBO defences against hand picked Bbums where he completely stunk out the joint.. he was so boring to watch.

Chris Eubank was Sven Ottke of Great Britain, so many gift decisions :deal
All he had was a Great Chin that was it :deal
If he didn't have a Great Chin.. fighters of the level of Paul Smith would've been beating him :deal :hi:

I tend to agree. The one thing that he really lacks is a quality American on his resume.

Nigel has G-Man, and was supposed to fight RJJ. No doubt he'd have fought Toney. He also beat Barkley... Chris hasn't done any of that.

No doubt Chris is one of the toughest fighters (and people) to walk the face of the earth, but his resume is paper-think on wins against quality opposition.

Should have, could have, would have  he shouldn't have lost any of those fights and wouldn't have lost all of those fights (if any).

The fact is that he had the longest unbeaten record in boxing and was the sports most proficient earner. He beat a 26-year-old Benn, he beat a 26-year-old Watson. Maximum respect.

    Would, could, suppose....

Lindell Holmes was a better allround fighter than McClellan or Barkley, and would've beaten both.

    I agree

Eubank was vastly overrated. It seems if you "I'm the best, I'm the best!" loud enough and long enough to rest of the mouth breathers actually believe it.

Exactly. I was a big fan of Chris and watched all his fights.
I remember the Ray Close fights and he definitely should have lost the first one,no doubt about it.
He looked pretty ordinary at times during fights.
Chris had one of the best chins in boxing, that's what made him.

Looked poor against guys he should have beaten easier but when the chips were down he was an animal, look at the 1st Benn fight,2nd Watson,Collins,Thompson and Calzaghe, fact is he beat a prime Benn and Watson..

What a BS thread, on his night Eubank was an excellent fighter and would have given most in his divisions a run for their money it was just his stupid showboating and lack of work rate that made fights closer and harder than they should been. I agree that he got a few shady decisions and 1 or 2 gifts (Benn II and Schommer) but so did many other fighters.

He beat a prime Benn and Watson so he did beat very good opp. But he was too comfortable with his WBO and earned too much money to take risks. Very much like Calz, but at least with Eubank, he fought very dangerous opp in those two. Calz always fought fighters that were lesser, past their primes or just below his standard.

You mean like Jeff Lacy, who everyone thought was the new Mike Tyson? Kessler? Eubank?
How come everyone who Calzaghe beat was past it?
Wake up,the guy beat everyone he faced, even with bad hands.

Just because people felt he was the next Tyson, doesnt mean he was the genuine article.

Victor Ortiz was meant to be the next De La Hoya.

    Kessler, is Calzaghes outstanding win.
